Need help with a Gaming Desktop

Hi All,

I would like to get some advice n help with building a gaming desktop. Doesn't have to be too high end budget is ard 1.5-1.7K including monitor. My friend previously came here 3 years back to get some advice n it work wonders for him so i would like to seek some help as well. Have zero knowledge in this field.

Games im planning to run - Hearthstone, Overwatch, HOTS, Apex Legend. Dota 2.

Things im looking out for
- a better processor (maybe I7, as i like to run multiple things at one go.)

- A stronger wireless adapter my router is slight far off from my room would like to have less choppy connections (or maybe some advice on how to solve this without pulling a long ass wire from my living room to my room.)

- A good monitor with high refresh rate (hear somthing about 144hz or something like that to run 4k maybe? looking for ard 23")

- Might need a slightly better cooling unit as my table is wall-facing.

- some advice on speakers would be great too. currently using a sonic gear speaker that has some issues whenever i accidentally tap the wire loud static sound would come out.

your budget not enough for 4k gaming. 1440p might be hard a bit also if wanna game at 1440p cause including monitor

did abit of google im thinking game at 1080 is fine. but like monitor with good refresh rate? maybe 4k resolution abit overkill? really suck at this, all im saying are hearsay from frens who are not in the know as well

just built a rig but personal opinion i think for not too high end the 2700x is overkill. i would think drop to a 2600 saves a horde of cash to put elsewhere without much loss.

For storage, a lot of guys are now snapping up the adata sx8200 m.2 nvme drive (500gb) bcoz its cheaper compared to competitors but still good performance.

well thats just based on my personal opinion after doing some homework these past weeks. prior to this i also have lost touch for many years.

Also, i think your 750w psu is alittle overkill. 550w to 600w shold be ok. 650w should be provision enough.

That's my own PC. My CPU cost about 2k, so over your budget.
Wait for better expert to give u advice.

Best is to go Ryzen as it's more budget friendly compare to Intel.

Either the 2600 or 2600x is more than sufficient for normal multitasking and gaming. 2700x is quite overkill. Rather you save the money and use it on getting a 2070 instead of 2060 since you're more towards gaming

With regard to your choppy internet connection, for those games more or less you just need a stable connection, doesn't have to be blazing fast.

For this, can take a look at getting a Homeplug. (Can google if you don't know what it is)

Connection will not be as fast as connect cable directly, but good enough

Alternatively, can get a good PCIe wifi card instead, those usb one usually not so stable

If you want to trim down the cost here are the following suggestions:
1. Swap CPU from 2600x to 2600, it should save you around $70+.
2. Buy a second hand but with warranty GTX 1070 instead of 1660Ti since both have the same performance. Second hand GTX1070 with warranty is around $300, that means you save around $100+.

Motherboard selected has a built-in Wifi so no need to buy a separate Wifi card.
As for speakers, consider buying a headphone instead. Saw some Takstar Pro 82 at Lazada selling for $70.

So for wireless surfing i have to buy another wifi card also? or is there an inbuilt one among the list? thx for the help n suggestion!! sorry about the noobness

For choppy wi-fi, you can either get a router with more powerful antennas or get a repeater/range extender.

I used a repeater for the master bedroom to boost the signal by 2 or 3 bars until recently when I upgraded the router.

Google-d home plug, 1 question does it work well with extension wires or it has to be wall socket for it to be stable?

Best is Wall Socket, if use extension might have interference so signal not as good. Can buy those that have slot to plug extension in one.

Basically u have a few options:
1) Mobo with built in WIFI (Mostly iTX form factor)
2) PCIe Wifi Card
3) USB Wifi Adapter

Id suggest trying 1 of these 3 options first, then if signal is not good enough, try using those Homeplug/Powerline Adapter/Wifi Extender/Wifi Repeater etc.

Personally, I'd go for a PCIe wifi card if you cant get a wired connection
