Missing means dead.
261 foreigners... DEAD.
Think they didn’t include. The list by the Nepal government has the names and ages of the sinkiesNo Singaporean in the list?
Hopefully that means the mother who might be at the Nepal-Tibet crossing is safe and only uncontactable due to infrastructure damages.
On This note. I’m leaning towards the nepalese. For the reason that they know their terrain best. They have gone thru one event to know that the foreign support is hampering efforts. This is the worst natural disaster of 2026 (other than the Venezuela earthquake that killed more than 2000 people)
I feel Nepal is not right to refuse foreign countries’ rescue assistance initially (only wanted financial aids) as their nationals are involved in the catastrophe -they later relented to allow specialist foreign assistance to take part in the rescue efforts.
Think CN no way to confirm cause cannot find anything yet. Most of the people on CN side were concentrated at the immigration point. But the immigration already covered in mud and debris and the road (only point of access) toward there already washed away by the mudslide.Just need to accept the reality that for disasters of such nature and scale, it is certain that the actual death toll will be magnitudes higher than whatever official numbers reported, whether from Nepal or china. The official numbers won’t matter so much.
China figures looks low cause majority of the impact is downstream towards Nepal. And I believe Nepal’s infrastructure is a lot weaker than china, so more affected.
there will be many undocumented people affected due to the nature of their villages and immigration systems. Many bodies will never be found, some will be buried deep underneath and never recovered since it’s not possible to excavate 200km of mud and silt of many storeys deep. Some will never have a body left, as the gravel rocks and mud will have grounded up the body. Morbid but this is reality. Water and sand at that speed is extremely abrasive. The human body stands no chance.
As much as it sounds pessimistic, the missing will likely be presumed dead. I have seen the Nepal government website on the bodies, and the state of their physical conditions are horrific. Torn limbs, missing limbs, wrangled flesh etc
Those at the upper stream most likely are gone, should have more and more survivors as they go downstream baThere could be folks who are at edge of the flood just barely managed to escape needing help. Or residences at higher elevations cut off from civilization. Cannot simply assume all 100% dead and hopeless.

I can read your hidden motivations clearly: CCP is lying bunch of sh*t and caused this disaster.
Over here, we are now focused on the disaster and the victims.
Currently everything is already as transparent as it can get: CCTV camera footage, public satellite images, drone videos from Chinese tourists, phone cameras from Nepal (because most Chinese dead), international social media postings, uncensored, unthrottled...all within hours to 1 day, faster than MSM.
You're saying it's STILL not transparent enough, and this is Chernobyl cover-up, which is totally NONSENSE.
So take your personal political views elsewhere. To Current Affairs, may I suggest.
You are arguing against a point I never made. My original reply was specifically to another person about the general concept of transparency during a crisis. Chernobyl is used as a historical analogy to show how suppressing facts hurts rescue efforts. You projected that political narrative of the CCP or claimed this specific event being a cover-up onto my post yourself.
Random social media posts, CCTV footage, and tourist drone videos do not equal official transparency. Fact.
u must understand how far the flood water drag every single building in its path... its 100km...
thats from sentosa all the way until malaysia kluang... imagine rescuers need to find Universal Studio from Sentosa all the way until malaysia there... how to find leh...

Seems like nobody believed the SMS warning seriously.
The police had to SCREAM into their ears to get them out. (Muglin area)
The timeline of the warning:
Think not many expected it to be that serious perhaps. They have had floods before in the past. Nothing came close to this. So think most took the past experience as a gauge to the current. Thinking it won't affect them much perhaps.
