Interview of another custom office survivor. Only 10 seconds to escape from the custom office. He said the flood reached 100 meter above the river surface.

I felt it is strange they did not mentioned about the 5.2 magnitude tremor registered by usgs. Instead went to check outside only when the incoming debris flow felt like an earthquake with only 10 seconds left instead of 7 minutes for the debris flow to travel from the tremor glacier drop ground zero to reaching the border crossing.

pretty amazing how poor nepal can mobilize assets helicopters restore bridges send relief to their rasawu district by the border crossing area which is at the same level with tibet gyirong port to rescue survivors on day 1 within the golden 90hrs meanwhile tibet side wiped out completely n rescue efforts claimed to be "blocked" n deterred due to 1 single entry point.

Following the flooding, the Nepal Roads Department began installing bailey bridges to replace collapsed bridges.[78] The Nepal Army delivered eight tonnes of relief supplies to Rasuwa by 27 August.[106] The government launched a psychosocial counseling and telemedicine services program for migrant workers and impacted families

girl who got rescued, Timure village and the Rasuwagadhi border area sit just about 3 kilometers south of Gyirong Port across the Miteri Bridge.

while their own media still bashing the nepalese gov rescue efforts for being slow

Has the nepalese rescuers arrived at the nepal side of the border crossing? I cannot find any news on rescuer at the border crossing nepal custom office. Only found a few news article about custom office employees survivors that escaped the flash flood debris flow that i posted above and many more news articles about missing custom employees.

Many foreigners cross the border into china at there everyday including the 2 missing singaporean? The nepal rescuers did not prioritized rescue survivors at the border crossing? 3 km away only from the village in the tweet you had posted.

Oops. My bad for not fact checking first before post. :( The custom office mentioned in previous post were located about 3 km from the border crossing. I thought the nepal custom office is same as sg jb custom.

Means no survivor at the border crossing yet. :(

Sad. With the other news saying the Gyirong port ground level up by 30m, really zero chance for any survivors at that area. Unless the person for some miracle kena wash upwards to the surface

Think likely quite some would be washed away by the mudslide downstream toward NP. Think at the CN custom side there are probably no survivors liao.

Interestingly, think now is beginning to see more jjww on social media about CN reaction. Think probably their own people outside started to get impatient with CN side progress bah.

Perhaps cause there are alot with closed ones there, thus wondering if missing or what. Mati not able to determine, but the missing think should know something bah. As think should be got records who at or pass through the customs. But think CN side release nothing much so far.

The energy of that glacier drop is equivalent to a few nuclear bombs worth of release. 5.2 magnitude earthquake is machiam like 4-5 times or more of that energy released in the Hiroshima nuclear bomb.

Imagine an even larger piece of glacier or mountain side cleaving off.

nature is scary

I think not easy to determine the identity of all travellers at the border crossing when the debris flow striked. Only travellers that cleared immigration have records? What about those waiting in queue or inside the cars buses on the way to border crossing not yet cleared immigration? Maybe got people at the border crossing to take photos in front of the building only.

The mud flows at 200kmh. The distance from the border to India is only 100km. Most people really have only 5-10 minutes to escape. It's amazing majority of people managed to escape in time and climb to the hills. If similar disaster hit us, I think it will take more than half hour to clear an hdb block of occupants. Probably even up to 1 hour.

Would the survivors of the deadly flood continue to live in the valley and rebuild their lives knowing that there may be another disaster in the future as glaciers break and melt ?

Watched part of the video clip on Indian tv channel where the anti-China host engaged in a heated argument with pro-China Victor Gao on the Nepal mudslide disaster . The former was, you guess it, blaming China for causing the disaster . It was like a bloody shouting match and the Indian host told off Gao “ Shame on you”
He was stupid to appear as guest on the Indian tv channel knowing he would be attacked by anti-China host.

Think perhaps its one of the few limited areas with enough flat land connecting both sides that can build crossing and structure bah. The rest all mountains. But its a high danger zone lor, with 3 river intersections anytime can burst the bank.

Think they should really consider building higher ground temperory evacuation points in the immediate surrounding mountain side area for such dire emergency, instead of just evacuation out of the area, which think takes more time.
They should have shift it to area which the workers can run towards the inland. They didn’t think it through thoroughly at the design stage. Plus it had an earthquake many years back so should have a prudent mind.
