There were some speculations that an earthquake and rain caused a huge glacial ice berg to drop and dam up a lot of water.

Then when the ice berg reached its limit, the water broke through and flooded the entire valley.....

Possible also.

Forty-seven people from a group including two children are missing in Nepal following devastating flooding on the country’s border with Tibet, their tour company told AFP on Aug 27.

The group included 15 Australians, 10 Canadians, nine Nepalese, eight Americans, two Britons, two Singaporeans, and one Russian-American dual citizen, Himalayan Glacier managing director Sanket Pandey said.

“At this time they are still missing,” he told AFP.

“Our team are checking hospitals where victims are coming in.”

they called it outburst of glacial lake higher up in the mountains

A glacial lake outburst flood (GLOF) is a sudden and dangerous release of a large amount of water from a melting glacier lake when its natural dam breaks.
