1. Overview of 3Gbps/5Gbps/6Gbps/10Gbps offerings.
Singtel is the only one which have the 10Gbps from the beginning. M1/VQ used to have 10Gbps plan but stopped the offering. But VQ now takes over SI's 10Gbps customers (if the customer chooses to go with VQ).

Singtel 5Gbps/10Gbps plan: using XGS-GPON ONR + ASUS GT-AX11000 Pro router (or 4 Singtel Mesh) --> XGS-PON ONR with or without TP-Link HB810v.
https://www.singtel.com/content/dam...d/singtel-10gbps-symmetrical-bb-setup-faq.pdf
Starhub UltraSpeed 5Gbps/10Gbps plan: using XGS-GPON all-in-one ONR (with wireless) or XGS-PON ONT, with or without TP-Link EB810v WiFi 7 router.
https://www.starhub.com/personal/support/article.html?id=kD5GRQtfxB3LxaEDMjuFm5
M1 3Gbps/6Gbps/10Gbps
Using XGS-PON ONT, bundled with TP-Link Archer BE230 (3Gbps plan), TP-Link Archer BE805 (6Gbps plan or 10Gbps plan) or Asus ZenWiFi BT10 2-pack (10Gbps plan).
https://shop.m1.com.sg/fbb/plans-bundles

MyRepublic: 10Gbps and 3Gbps, using XGS-PON ONT, CGNAT with static IPv4 add-on.
HyperSpeed 10Gbps plan: using XGS-GPON ONT plus TP-Link Archer BE805 router for normal plan and lower tier gamer plan, or Asus ROG GT-BE25000 router (same as ROG GT-BE98) for the higher tier gamer plan
https://support.myrepublic.com.sg/h...088691353-Application-Installation-RelocationMR 3Gbps plan: https://myrepublic.net/sg/3gbps/

VQ (from SI legacy 10Gbps plan): you can use your own stuff (eg: SPF+ module + router)
https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/...-subscribed-to-superinternet-lip-lai.6918464/
VQ new XGS-PON 3Gbps/5Gbps/10Gbps plan, also offers XGS-PON ONU stick option for power users. Now it only offers 10Gbps plan to new users (from Sept 2024). CGNAT with static IPv4 add-on.
https://viewqwest.com/sg/residential/xgspon/

SIMBA offers 10Gbps plan at S$29.99 per 30 days, using XGS-PON ONT, CGNAT with IPv6.
https://simba.sg/broadband

Whizcomms offers 10Gbps plan at S$29.99 per month.
https://whizcomms.com.sg/10gbps-broadband/

2. 5Gbps plan from Starhub and Singtel
1) Starhub 5Gbps plan

Option 1 -- to go with Nokia XGS-PON all-in-one ONR (AX6000 rated)
Option 2 -- it is reported that you can ask to change to XGS-PON ONT as well (not router bundle)
Option 3 -- to go with XGS-PON ONT + EB810v WiFi 7 router

2) Singtel 5Gbps plan -- with ZTE XGS-PON ONR
Option 1 -- cheaper plan with Singtel AX5400 wireless router and may also have lousy SIngtel Mesh solution.
Option 2 -- more expensive plan with TP-Link HB810 10G capable WiFi 7 router.

Iniital configuration in 2023 for MR/SH/ST 10Gbps plan for reference.
Take note Starhub has switched to ONT + EZ810v. Singtel has switched to HB810 wireless router but still use the same ZTE XGS-PON ONR. MR keeps using the ONT but offers Archer BE805 router and even Asus ROG GT-BE98 (BE25000) as an option for the higher tier 10Gbps gamer plan.

1) In terms of flexibility, MR seems to be better than Singtel/Starhub as you get the chance to use your own router and use the bundled TP-Link AXE300 as an AP.

2) Starhub 10Gbps plan typical setup

qeIn7YP.jpeg

This is not a very good setup as the 10G LAN port is not utilized.

Better configuration:
ONR -- 10G capabe switch
10G switch -- 10G capable PC/Mac or NAS

3) Singtel 10Gbps typical setup

hn0uhiR.png

1Lzs9tP.png

Both setup are not very good.

Better setup with ONR (not bridged)
Singtel 10G ONR (not bridged) -- 10G capable switch
10G capable switch -- 10G capable PC/Mac/NAS
10G capable switch -- Asus GT-AX11000 Pro -- 2.5G/1G LAN clients and wireless clients

Better setup with ONR (bridged) -- in the future, not possible now
It is said that Singtel will allow the ZTE XGS-PON ONR to be bridged in a few months time with Firmware upgrade.

Singtel 10G ONR (bridged) -- main router with at least dual 10G port (wired or wireless)
Main router 10G LAN -- 10G switch
10G capable switch -- 10G capable PC/Mac/NAS
10G capable switch -- Asus GT-AX11000 Pro as AP -- 2.5G/1G LAN clients and wireless clients

Setup diagrams for Nokia ONR are included in the above FAQ. It will be similar for XGS-PON ONT + TP-Link Archer EB810v (just replace the ONR with the combination, LAN ports will be one x 10G and 3 x 2.5G).

This one looks interesting. I am a definite no to any service which only allows ONR connectivity- whether 1Gbps or 10Gbps.

Who the hell wants 10gbps? May be like 1% of the population?
Even 500mbps I find too much. If 300mbps exists I would get that .
10Gbps seems overkill, I personally use 500Mbps and find it more than enough to serve my online needs but after fiddling with homenetworking, I am aspire to grow my network to 2.5G or 10Gbps cos 1gig internal network isn't going to cut it anymore.

I used to pay over $70 for just 6Mbps in the early days of SCV cable but if 10Gbps is going towards that kind of pricing, I will definitely give it a go.

MR's 10Gbps for $60 is interesting, might give it a go once they have a proper option for it on their site.

Curious if VQ will start to list their 10Gbps offering on their site as well, so far seem like they keeping it exclusive to SI's customers.

I heard recent news that they are pushing 10Gbps availability to the mass market (like how Fibre 100Mbps step up to 1Gbps many years ago), can't remember by which year so we should also see the rest of the ISPs starts offering and bringing down prices.

I think they are testing the water to see if it makes business sense (whether got enough subscribers or not).

Hopefully their trial will be successful.

If they test like this they can only find out how many people
1. don't read fine print or 2. willing to pay extra for 1G/2G plan.

How come i am not able to recontract/upgrade to MR 10Gbps plan? No option to choose that. Only got normal plans. I cannot find the option "Simply select the 'speed boost to 10Gbps' option to proceed with the upgrade."

From support:

I am an existing Fibre Broadband customer with 1Gbps/2Gbps Fibre Broadband. Can I recontract or upgrade to HyperSpeed 10gbs ?

July 26, 2023
To easily upgrade from your current 1Gbps or 2Gbps Fibre Broadband plan to our HyperSpeed 10Gbps, please check your recontract eligibility and explore your options by logging into your MyRepublic Broadband MyAccount. Simply select the 'speed boost to 10Gbps' option to proceed with the upgrade.

Once the HyperSpeed 10Gbps is successfully installed, your existing plan will be terminated for a seamless transition. If you are using a device provided by us, you may be required to return it. Our team will provide you with clear instructions regarding the return process.

During the installation appointment, our team will collect the Optical Network Terminal (ONT) and any associated accessories that were provided to you.

For further assistance with the recontracting process or any questions you may have, our customer support team is ready to help.

I also try to search online what they are offering and get nothing. Simba is coming up just $20/mth for 2.5Gbps. The problem now is ISP not willing to drop price for 1Gbps la so like that better go beyond 1Gbps plan.

there is no much room in terms of profit margins for the ISP as Netlink trust sucked away a portion of the subscription fees (last heard $15 per line?) so expect 1Gbps price to stay that way. As for cheap 2.5Gbps like what Simba is offering, confirm there will be overselling cos not everybody will max their lines at the same time.
