You lock your money into a currency that is not easily tradable due to currency controls and with almost no chance of selling the property in the future. If you want to buy passports there are so many cheaper options like Portugal around 500k where there are investor schemes and or even Vanuatu about 100k.

There is also the risk of change of government causing the scheme to be scrapped then you are screwed. Like MACS was scrapped after Najib left.

Unlikely lor, normally Singaporeans congregate at certain neighborhoods only and those neighborhoods are considered very expensive for locals.

Even if they scrapped, the existing MM2H won’t be affected.

Wondering if I can FIRE in JB now. But elder boy still in poly. Really have to wait till 2026? Or can I fetch him daily?

Boost economy doesn't mean e locals benefit. That's how Dr M won power previously.

Sg boost economy how many locals benefit vs foreigner benefit. Purchasing power go down. Now have to go JB as economic refugees 😭

The politicians flip prata until their own people also confused.

The people’s sentiments, under current.

Eg.
https://www.straitstimes.com/asia/s...-to-foreign-buyers-says-malaysian-pm-mahathir

"Our objection is because it was built for foreigners, not built for Malaysians. Most Malaysians are unable to buy those flats."

Good for your friends, how much did they profit? My dad has 2 properties in KL which he is unable to sell, obviously without a significant loss from his buying price. I'm not sure if you know that bumis get discount on properties?

Those I know broke even, they only did so because they had developer's discount, they may lose the furnishing cost.

I missed this as it sold flying off so fast by Singaporean Malay.
