Holy sh1t this thread is epic :s13: :s13:

Look, if you think it's unsafe and/or you want the 18-20% PE returns and are angry at getting a sub-4% with this, then don't buy?

err.. there are no "BO" or "LBO" funds? All PE funds use leverage as and when they like. It's in their mandate and oftentimes interest to lever up.
layman might see it as a traditional bond, which clearly ISNT!

This V is more diversified than IV isn't it? 38 funds 800+ companies versus 36 funds 500+ companies.

It needs to take a really big "everything collapse" to take this bond out, somewhere along the line of 2008.

Not saying it won't happen though...

ya...
is 100k to 1mil iirc
wanna get more also difficult so why worry abt default? LOL!

yeah i only got 8k Astrea IV, likely Astrea V is going to be to the same or less.

If such a small amount, if you worry about default then perhaps this product is not for you, let others have more! :s13:

There is no need to be condescending. Different people are at different stages of their investment journey. Every dollar is precious.

The amount is so small that the management overhead is not worth it. This can be bought easily but selling it in the secondary market need to link CDP account with some broker? If you already hold SG stocks and bonds in CDP then it's okay to subscribe to this I guess.

But I hold only SSB in CDP.

So we can't sell it via DBS IB like the SSB?

I dont think so. SSB is straightforward, the govt buys it back and the valuation is determinant, based on the interest accrued.

In case of this Astrea Bond, you need to sell it on a stock exchange or maybe FSM platform and somebody should be willing to buy it. The price that they are willing to buy it may not be something you like to sell at.

So let's say we don't sell it and hold it for 10 years, after 10 years principle would come back automatically to debiting bank account? Provided the bond doenst go bust off course . Will that require any special effort on our end or is automatic?

So just submit for 5k and enjoy 4pa returns for 5 years and 5 pa returns for another 5 years with interest credited bi annually to the bank account ?

Any info on how balloting would be like?
Could not find much info on it in the prospectus

13) Will successful applications be satisfied in full? Is there potential for larger allocations?
Based on market feedback and depending on demand, Astrea V plans to allocate valid applications as follows:
a) all applications of less than S$50,000 will be allocated in full or in part;
b) applications of S$50,000 or more will be balloted, with successful applicants allocated in full or in part.
Astrea V reserves the right to change its allocation plan.

What does the bond issuer Astrea V Pte Ltd (say they) plan to do with the money collected from the sale of the 3 classes of Astrea V PE bonds (i.e. class A-1, A-2 and B)?

As this is publicly traded on SGX, we cannot sell it via DBS IB. There is no option to sell like the one at SSB.

The only way to sell is to sell via your brokerage account that is linked up to CDP.
