I do quite heavy web browsing (big web-apps within Chrome, maybe 10-20 tabs open at a time. Chrome itself already taking up 6gb of ram).

So far my MBP 15 flying through everything like a champ, would this be because of quad core?

Does stuff like Chrome even take advantage of multiple cores?

Reason why i ask is because:
1. I'm wondering if MBP 13 would be equally smooth / fast (since it is dual core)
2. I'm wondering why my previous 16gb Windows laptop i7 (lenovo X1) was so much more sluggish when doing the same thing.

Some additional thoughts after 2 days using:
--> 15 inch is heavier but otherwise still manageble. Can use (uncomfortably) on airplane economy seat.
--> 15 inch is PERFECT as a desktop replacement. I totally do not feel inhibited in anyway that im working on a laptop. I can do 2 documents side by side easily. I might even get rid of my home monitor because this size good enough for me. Traveling now and i feel super productive.
--> Speakers are superb. Watching solarmovie got some movies feels like 3d sound. Dunno how they do it.
--> Batt life is decent. Really depends on what you're doing. On plane browsing PDF ebooks, time remaining showing 14 hours (from 100%). But heavy surfing with big webapps and many tabs open, time remaining can drop to 5 hrs (from 100%).
--> Touch pad is amazing. Ive been using physical click for a long time, and this force touch (haptic) is amazing. Pet peeve of mine has always been the annoying hard press required for a proper click for regular touch pads. This solves everything.
--> Keyboard is a bit annoying at first, but 24 hrs later im fine with it. Not an issue.

Im officially an OSX fan again!

yr windows laptop is it using ssd? ppl put too much emphasis on e cpu. e key is actually e storage especially for tasks that don't do much calculations. anyway 1 easy way to reduce e ram usage on chrome is to use tab suspender extensions...

For my windows i7 16gb, it is SSD, but not sure the speed of it. Apparently MacbookPro latest SSD is much faster.

I also used tab suspender for windows chrome, but didnt seem to help leh... I dont think the issue with my windows laptop was the ram (16gb leh!)

I remain the SSD as 256GB, cos no matter how large it goes, I will always fill it up without doing house keeping.

Leaving it at 256GB will make me do housekeeping more often.

I took the 2.6Ghz, up to 4GB 460 only and add apple care.

Hey all need some opinion. I'm currently an uni student using a 13in macbook pro early 2011 basic version (2.3GHz Intel Core i5, 320GB SATA Drive, 8GB 1333 MHz DDR3, Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB). I intend to upgrade to the new macbook pro touch bar since my current macbook pro is already very laggy and slow. And I always maxed out my storage. Do you think the basic 13in model is enough or should i get one with 256GB SSD and upgrade to 16GB memory? I'm not a heavy user, mainly surfing the net, working on microsoft office and some adobe photoshop etc. Thanks!

if basic surfing + random productivity, basic model shd be more than enough. In fact, MB 12 inch also possibly enough.

Online store shipping change from 4-5 weeks to 3-4 weeks
Mine still 'processing items'... zzz.

Finally finished my wedding pics after 3 weeks. That's how slow my 13" MBP is now even with SSD and 8GB RAM.

Mine from Dec 14 - 19 become Dec 13 - 19 liao.

Hopefully can come earlier. LOL

Same here, from 21-27 become Delivers 16/12/2016 - 23/12/2016.

What's the most reliable Type C to USB port + gigabit ethernet + HDMI hub available?

Is the Dell Type C adapter compatible?

Upgrade to SSD will be cheaper though to solve the 'laginess'
Whether your graphics card is good enough to handle intensive photoshop is another question

Hello I'm currently using a MacBook Air 13-inch mid 2012 with the following:
  • 128GB SSD
  • 1.8GHz Intel Core i5
  • 4GB 1600MHz DDR3
  • Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536MB

Currently the condition of my laptop is quite bad. The battery is gone in the sense that it will need to be connected to a power socket otherwise it can't last longer than 5mins. My storage is also always maxed out. I have to be cautious or what programs to install in order not to max out my storage and I am starting to get the message of something related to file descriptors (I think it's the RAM, can't remember the exact message, it's like can't open any more files or smth)

I am looking to change to the MBP with TouchBar 256GB SSD plus RAM upgrade to 16GB or MBP with TouchBar 512GB or MBP without TouchBar plus RAM upgrade to 16GB and SSD upgrade to 512GB. However, I can't decide which to get. I usually use my laptop for school stuff like programming, web development such as ruby on rails, nodejs, php, photoshop. Sometimes I might need to dual boot or parallel as I need visual studios too. Thanks!
