touch bar im finding it a little useful now... but i think once more apps start to support it and you can customize more, the utility will increase a lot.

For your case, if budget is really a concern, get without TB. Otherwise, you will be VERY happy with the new MBP especially if upgrading from MBA13 from 2012!

I was using a MBA 13 inch from 2013 and the difference is quite great!

Hello I'm currently using a MacBook Air 13-inch mid 2012 with the following:
  • 128GB SSD
  • 1.8GHz Intel Core i5
  • 4GB 1600MHz DDR3
  • Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536MB

Currently the condition of my laptop is quite bad. The battery is gone in the sense that it will need to be connected to a power socket otherwise it can't last longer than 5mins. My storage is also always maxed out. I have to be cautious or what programs to install in order not to max out my storage and I am starting to get the message of something related to file descriptors (I think it's the RAM, can't remember the exact message, it's like can't open any more files or smth)

I am looking to change to the MBP with TouchBar 256GB SSD plus RAM upgrade to 16GB or MBP with TouchBar 512GB or MBP without TouchBar plus RAM upgrade to 16GB and SSD upgrade to 512GB. However, I can't decide which to get. I usually use my laptop for school stuff like programming, web development such as ruby on rails, nodejs, php, photoshop. Sometimes I might need to dual boot or parallel as I need visual studios too. Thanks!

if you have a USB-C monitor, you can charge your MBP through it while using it. now that is one interesting use.

I think it's more of a holding value instead. Apple only charges when the product is leaving the warehouse for delivery..

From the looks of it, you should get yours next week. I'd expect they will ship out by Monday. Invoice is sent when the item is shipped.

I was charged 3 weeks ago. Still twiddling my toes.

ETA 1-7 Dec.

Are you sure they have actually charged your card? Usually the charging happens only when they are preparing to ship. Your 3-weeks-ago "charge" could just be a credit hold.

Most likely it's just a credit hold.

It's customary for some merchants to place a credit hold on your card to secure the order. (E.g. hotels also do that to secure a booking.) This will affect your available credit balance. But you don't actually owe the amount yet.
