do you guys think my 2014 mba can last for school purposes until 2018/early 2019?

current batt count at 122 only, or is it recommended for me to get a new one? i mainly use microsoft word and pdfs, and surfing of webs, will never game on laptop cos i have a dedicated pc at home alr, oh and 128gb for dual boot is it too little? need win10 for school
128GB a bit limited so I won't do dual boot, I'll just run ParallelsVM with win10.

Apart from that, if you take good care of it, 4-5 years shouldn't be an issue.

My last 15" PowerBook lasted for 4 years before the screen died, system still boots fine though. I carry it everywhere I go though.

Parallel is a Mac software where it allows you to run Windows within Mac OS; virtual machine (VM).

It is identical to Bootcamp; main difference is you need to restart your Mac and run Windows with Bootcamp whereas you can run Windows within Mac OS and continue to use Mac and Windows applications at the same time.

Can always get external drive if 128GB not enough. The MBA that you have is more than enough for your usage scenario

i thought iFixIt did a tear down n e base model 13" has a removable SSD...

Guess I phrase my sentence wrongly. What I meant was the Touch Bar model might not have removable SSD.

Tried in Epicentre today the MBP 13" non touch bar...
Space gray colour looks nice...but what do I know, I always buy black/gray iPhones since 4.
Keyboard thin but feels much nicer than Macbook's.
Screen much brighter and better contrast compared to 2015 MBP 15" next to it.
Speakers sounds loud and clear. Music sounds good even with the noises going on at the shop.
Size looks about same as MBA 13"

just tried it just now at nubox after class... its the 13 inch without touchbar as well... The 13 and 15 with touchbar will come in a later date....

Love the new design. Dun really feel the difference in weight honestly... very little difference i guess.... looks a bit thinner, noticeable at least... the bezel is also now thinner...

the one thing that is jaw dropping for me the trackpad. its super damn huge for a 13 inch. at the shop, they actually placed an older 15 inch beside it and u know what? the trackpad on the macbook which is the 13 inch is like 2x bigger than on the older 15 inch...
i honestly dun find any need to have bigger trackpad yet as last time the 15 inch mbp i used is sufficient... but the larger trackpad makes it look more appealing i guess...

Keyboard? i like the new design... similar to the MacBook... But the MacBook have a more shallower feeling when compared to the mbp... the travel on the mbp feels more by just a bit... at least for me...
One problem tho and its specifically me and some of u guys... when i type, i tend to put too much pressure which causes noise when typing... And the mbp keyboard srsly sounds so hollow and empty inside which make it even noisier... the machine will make people look at me if im in the library... its just me....

The keyboard needs time to get use to it... Some might not like it as it is too shallow... but im the type of guy who prefers something more flushed or very shallow...

It's an application that runs in Mac, allows you to run other OS within the Mac OS itself. I've installed Parallels, then installed Win7 Pro VM in it, and moved the entire file to an external HDD and run it when I need Windows.

Speed is good.

was thinking that i should just get an old macbook pro 15 since the new ones r not much diff... i know improvements are made like they are faster... and GPU are better... but i think im better of with the old one....
firstly, larger trackpad dun make a diff for me honestly.
2nd, i do heard the display are more brighter and vivid but didnt notice them when in the store... looks the same to me or slightly better.
3rd, price tag... too high...

im now looking for the 2015 model... There r 2 vrsns, one which is AMD dGPU and the other is Iris Pro... Which. is better to get?
Will be doing a lot of video editing...

my thoughts as well..looking at the mbp 2015 on apple store website and thinking of getting the 3.1ghz processed + 16gb ram + 512gb hard disk..price is much lower than the new ones and with more usable ports..

any comments?

Oh... im thinking to buy a used ones as what apple sells currently only with the Iris Pro GPU... Some say the performance are not that diff from the AMD ones... nevetheless, im not buying a brand new set as i think its also quite expensive... Refurbished price is also nearly the same as new ones...

getting it from carousell maybe... can get arnd $2500+ with warranty...

After looking at the new models with their underpowered specs and insane price tags, I'm very inclined to go with a 2015 refurbished 13" MBP. Anyone here has recent experience with Apple refurbished products? Googling gives me mixed results. Most people say refurbished products are indistinguishable from new, some say theirs come with very bad defects.

After considering specs of 2016 MBP, I decided to get the refurbed 2015 13" MBP.

It was delivered to me yesterday and indeed was indistinguishable from new.

That's good to hear. What's the battery cycle count when you received in?
