Have kinda mixed feelings with the ending.
YWX as GJ is kinda lacking of the great patriotic hero vibe. Yes, he looks blur as times (which is accurate) but lacks the kind of patriotism that felix displayed. Don't look rugged or big-sized/macho for someone growing up in mongolian grassland.
LYT as HR is superb. Very accurate as described in the novel. Just not nasty enough and don't display the craftiness and don't curse as convincingly as ariel. Most favourite HR for sure. Bet her popularity will rise after this.
Michael miu-- very scary, imposing, unpredictable and commanding HYS. Superb.
LZY-- very comical and funny OYK. Most favourite OYK of all times. His dialogue lines were damn funny and corny, and he certainly didn't look nor sound like a villain. He was supposed to be a lewd, scheming, amorous rapist but he was very polite and caring to HR. Very gentleman rapist and lecher indeed.
Wish there is a sub-plot of a love triangle between him, HR and GJ so that GJ won't take HR for granted.
CXX-- portrayed the emotionally torn YK well. And his evilness at the end is quite convincing. But michael miu as YK was pure evil and hard to top.
I actually have very high ratings for the show. But the final few episodes were too rushed and i believe many scenes were cut off. Such a shame, because one can tell the production team really put in effort to source for location to film, the props, the power-pack supporting cast and for sticking relatively close to novel compared to other adaptations.
Overall, thumbs up!
Especially Li Mochou... think many guys don't mind getting killed by her. Even the middle-aged HR and GJ are nice.. although due to story-line, they appeared to be very traditional mindset fused with outdated Confucian values.. totally different from what they experienced when young.
