I have a couple of quick upgrade ideas :

- Use a snap latch instead of a screw to close the loading chamber.

- links for the ammo belt and the tubes is separated when the nerf darts are pushed into the chamber. Meaning can technically build an attachment for the ejection port that splits the spent links and tubes into 2 different bags. Saves a bit of time "cleaning up". But won't be as much fun as seeing "casings" flying out everywhere though :LOL:

- or, if got more skills, redsign the belt into an continuous loop. Ie
- links don't decouple;
- tubes will have a section built like a spring, allowing the tubes carrying the nerf darts to stretch forward into the "firing chamber" to deliver the darts. Emptied tubes and links then feed directly back into backpack as a continuous belt. No need to spend 30 mins to reconnect the links and tubes. Just need to reload the darts into the links.
I am sure the community will have plenty to do. The kits were just released to the kickstarter community so expect some dev time before the real nice mods come out.

If someone started machining a plunger chamber out of aluminum, I'd sign up immediately. The engineer in me says this bugger is a major failure point due to the propensity for dry fire up to 50 times a second.

This gatling is a bit of a novelty btw. The tubes are actually the barrel, and the delinking mechanism is pretty much near identical to what is in the m134 or vulcan. It may not be so trivial to engineer the delinking out without a lot of drive system rework.

I do know that someone is working on a automatic reload machine of sorts. a primary interest of mine is to see if i can mod the system to reliably take stefans instead of full length darts. The breech seal by nature of operation isn't the best, and using soft, well sealing materials may represent excessive wear given the rate of fire. It is a system for throwing an overwhelming volume of low grade fire, not one for effectively destroying a downrange target.

$2000 made in Singapore all CNC blaster. This one is quite a monster with a 30kg spring. They do a production run maybe once a year?

The video highlights some shortcomings and I tend to agree. They've since revised the plunger and that fixed an air leak problem on my unit when the seriously heavy springs were in use. That may well be the defect noted where 18kg springs ended up outperforming the 26 kg ones.

There was a comment in there about the Apex Prime, which is 1/3 the price. Now that is a solid premium tier blaster made from sheet metal and some CNC parts. There is a order open for the latest revision that is lighter and has some refinements over the previous generation. Worth a gander if you are in the market for something more than plastic. Do note that it comes 100% unassembled. You will need to get hands oily.

i still have a brand new Nerf Centurion , still in box, bought years ago, dreamt of modding such a project one day

then my interest faded liao lol. still collecting bolt action and shotgun style blasters from time to time
Yah a started with a longshot years ago. Then retaliator modded with Orange Modworks kit.
Few years back I got back into the hobby after discovering the really serious aftermarket kit was actually legal to own in Singapore.

BTW a NIB centurion is worth something to collectors.
