Hi guys, thinking of getting a switch from Qoo's $100 promo. Saw that there's 2 bundle. Mario Kart + Just dance and Mario Kart + bomberman.

Any recommendation on which to go with from your experience playing the games?

Splatoon 2 does not come with multi language option unlike other games such as Mario/Zelda. Even if you change your Switch account to Japan.. Your US Splatoon 2 will still be played like a US copy and will not display text in Japanese or played like the Japan copy. Dont see how we can use a US copy to play with the Japanese unless they allow cross region multiplayer (for eg US vs Jap).

While your US version will not display Japanese text, the text or voice is just UI assets stored in the files specific to your game version. Internally the assets still have the same IDs and are treated the same, just displayed differently. There are many games where a Chinese version can cross-play with Japanese version, or English and Japanese cross-play.

Is splatfest schedule based on game region, account region, IP address region...?

wonderful confusion again by nintendo...

For a start, I don't know why the f nintendo wants matches to be based on schedule (the game modes and maps are scheduled, you cannot play a mode/map if it is not one of the couple available at the time you are playing). It's like playing games on a school time-table.

That's what I read too. So in that case, I think for our local copy it should be either US (preferable) or Europe/Oceania

Better to skip the Japanese version since all versions will allow cross play except for splatfest

Yes I understand that. Just wondering if Nintendo will be opening up cross region play in different language for Splatoon 2. Splatoon 2 Jap copy does not have the same Game ID as the US copy unlike Mario kart deluxe for Switch or another eg.. Crash bandicoot Asia and US for PS4. Having said that, games with different ID could still be cross played. Decision lies with Nintendo.
