2 original batteries that used to last me 24 hours each per full charge for normal usage are now only lasting me max 6 hours each.

I have reset my phone to factory default 3 times in the last 3 days and not installed any updates thereafter. The drain is happening with near zero usage.

Can i conclude this is hardware problem and go to samsung?

I'm experiencing this for the past few days also. I tried disabling some sync with Google + and so far it drains slower. Always connected to wifi..

Try to Disable location reporting by going to Settings > Location > Google Location Reporting > Off.

I know this causes the device to use your WiFi/GPS to report location changes, meaning everytime the phone detects a cell network change or a new WiFi spot it will rescan the WiFi and network to report location back to Google. This is mostly a Google Now feature to get precise location results but without it Google Now is still usable.

All location settings already disabled.. was on kit kat for a while already and this symptom just appeared. Do u think samsung will agree this is hardware problem if i bring it in for a change? Really frustrating as now i can go through 2 full batts in one day!!!

Even when connected to wifi overnight, mine only drain 1% of my battery only. Probably didn't clear background apps?

it's back to normal now that I'm back in Singapore. It was happening during a business trip to china. turned wifi on only (airplane mode + wifi).. I wonder what in china caused it to have 5-6 hrs per battery and wakelock disabled. battery life is now back to 40 hours per battery back in sg. :s13:

I know the reason! Cos while u r in China, u called girl to your room. When u r bathing, the girl secretly used your phone vibrator function. Hence, your battery very fast kapo.....

LOL.

But on a serious note, under settings>battery, "Phone" was using the battery most of the time.

I have the same issue of battery drain while overseas too. Was on autoroam and my 4G and wifi are turned off. Batt hardly last 6 hours. It has something to do with the roaming network that caused the drain but couldn't figure out how to resolve it. Battery back to normal when back in Sg.

I experienced this recently as well. I could see that the phone was constantly downloading when I was in the hotel connected to wifi. When I am out of the hotel with no wifi, I can still feel the phone is doing something in the background as it was really warm. 100% to 0% within 3-4 hours. My data autoroam was off. Now it seems back to normal after I got back. It is really weird.

Happen to me too. Suspect that was due to volte as other country has not supported this and the software volte did not stop searching for it signal or smth

actually many other countries already in progress of introducing volte like what singapore is doing.

the batt drain is indeed probably due to the software, which i think there is one coming along based on the trend on sammobile... Just gonna wait and see how it goes..
