just for the record, i don't use viber at all.

From the looks of it, it should be some software bug with regards to VOLTE when roaming overseas

in my S4A case, viber is one of the least suspected apps to me as it is one of the apps like whatsapp, skype, fb messenger, wechat in my phone...but too bad it is the culprit in my case.

i guess the best bet now is to turn-off volte when oversea if you encounter battery drain....then report to samsung for solution.

is it apps or radio firmware or whatever that caused this volte issue, that is samsung's job to troubleshoot...:D

of course if you have time overseas to play around with phone/apps settings, by all means do it...you may be lucky enough to strike something...:D

Also experienced fast battery draining on my note 3 when I went malaysia. Off wifi & data roaming, but the phone kept having the "Not connected to Internet" notification popping out at the bottom of the screen.
This causes the phone to not 'sleep' and the phone becomes damn hot.

I don't think is viber, as I do not use that app. Could be the volte issue as I didn't seek that out.

On a side note, even in Singapore, when I off both WiFi & Data, the "Not connected to Internet" msg notification keeps popping out at the bottom of the screen. Any idea how to disable that?

I too face the same issue when in Malaysia and back in Singapore. Even hard reset did not solve the issue. I had to bring to service ctr for them to re flash the phone.

disabling VOLTE on my phone didn't work. Didn't have the red/green arrows and roaming drain still happening.

Called singtel to disable my VOLTE service altogether.

This damm issue not new lay. I experience that from s3. Drain fast and hot as well. So hot until I have to remove the battery and let it rest awhile.

Other brand no issue like Motorola and Alcatel which are also on KitKat. My friend note3 same issue as well . looks like it's a Samsung issue

But it seems that different countries have different severity.

I would rank Indonesia the worst and follow by Cambodia.

Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam moderate (still drain but doesn't heat up that I have to remove battery).

China close to Singapore performance.
