Definitely would not drop below the price you need to breakeven which is around $820... Can safely say its good to go!

And yes you are correct. Finally someone who knows how to calculate.
Like everyone here, I'm also calculating the cheapest way to buy Note 3.

My contract ends 16th Nov.

My thinking:

Buy Note 3 Off-contract at $900 (conservative price)

Buy 5S 16gb Gold at $538 with Contract

Sell 5S at ~$950 immediately once i get it in Nov (very conservative price- right now ppl buy around $1000-1050)

So, 900 + 538 - 950 = $488

Therefore, I paid $130 less for Note 3 than I buy on contract (costing $618) and can start use early.

Am I missing out any thing??

Can price of 5S 16gb stay around $950 in Nov?

thank you! u give me the confident to take action:)

Don't quote me though... Who knows iphone suddenly market crash. But what would make the iphone 5s drop $150 below Retail price?

Even if it does, just take it as a small fee to pay to get to use the phone early.

option 2? my option 2 is to just recontract with note 3 making a loss of 365.

seriously u are the one who are blur. end of the day i got extra 485 with a 0 dollar note 3. simple logic. so my note 3 is definitely free if not why i will have EXTRA 485 AFTER owning the note 3. lazy argue with u. end of the day i benefit and not u. that matters.

to show u proof, i followed his calculations whih u say is the right way.

850(note 3 without contract) + 365(iphone 5s cost) - 1700 = -485

see?

-485. means i earn 485 after getting the note 3. so his way u say is correct way of counting? damn joker. result still the same. buck up ur maths and logic.

you just contradicted yourself. u told the other guy thats the correct way of calculating. i followed it exactly. and u said i dont get it. look u are the one who dont fathom simple logic. if i have 485 after getting a note 3, it doesnt take a 10 year old to understand that my note 3 cost nothing if not why there is PROFIT of 485 leftover.

to make it MUCH easier for you. before i own the note 3 or iphone 5s, for illustration purpose, i got 1000 cash on hand. now i have 1485 cash on hand and a brand new note 3. so is my note 3 free? if this u aso dont agree..you got to restudy english and maths. lol

i sold iphone 5s for 1.7k mind you. aiyah i rest my case. its hard to make an intellectually incapable person to understand. you win. my phone is not free. i paid alot for it. lmao.

$-368(cost of getting iphone from telco) +$1700(sold iphone) - $880 (cost of getting non contact note 3) + $368(cost of getting note 3 direct from telco) = $820

Think opportunity cost. In your case of calculating you did not factor in that signing a contact with telco is a "cost"

It's like saying to someone, "hey why get non contact phone whereby you have to pay $200 when you can get it "free" when you sign with telco"

anyone know whether addtron limited based in uk is reliable? they are selling at sgd 750...takes 3 days to deliver by DHL or fedex. unlocked with 1 year manufacturer warranty.

Wait, you forgot to factor in GST. All imported stuffs need to pay GST so that's another $50+ so how much do you save? Less than $100 for no local warranty set.

okay firstly, why must you factor in signing a conract with telco a cost? I tell you why you shouldnt. Even if i don't go the iphone route or buy direct, i will still be in a 24 month contract with the telco. Why? Simple. I need a mobile line. No one cares whether its a prepaid card or post paid plan, its the same. Monthly you still have to pay to use your line.

secondly,
$-368(cost of getting iphone from telco) +$1700(sold iphone) - $880 (cost of getting non contact note 3) + $368(cost of getting note 3 direct from telco) = $820

why must you add the cost of getting the note 3 from the telco into the total amount? It just doesn't make any sense. If you insist, then i will say you contradict big time. Why?

Did you see him in his calculations add in $900 + $538 - 950 + 618? No?
Open your eyes bigger abit and see. and yet you say he calculated correctly. LOL

Anyway if you still dont believe my phone i get is free, i show u one last time.

Scenario A - Iphone route

I got $1000 cash on hand before doing anything. End of the day, i got $1485 + brand new Note 3.

Scenario B - buy note 3 from telco directly

I got $1000 cash on hand before doing anything. End of the day, i got $632 + a brand new Note 3.

So you take scenario A and scenario B. The difference is?
Scenario A = i earned $485 profit and got a note 3 for free resulting me to have $1485 on my hand.
Scenario B = i lost $368 to telco and got a note 3 resulting me to have $632 on hand.

Can you read and understand? Simple enough? hahaha...
Your calculations is obviously wrong. Worse, still wanna say factor in contract with telco cost. If you look at my scenarios, both scenarios aso will have contracts with telco. So why bother adding that in.

I apologise for calling you names. I just cant understand how you think. You think too complex until you are illogical.

Cheers.

exactly. simple logic explained he must go one round talk what opportunity cost lol

Do elaborate. It's not constructive when you just say something is wrong without any reason. The purpose of this thread is to get know the cheapest note 3 around right?

I said $-538(cost of getting iphone from telco) +$950(sold iphone) - $900 (cost of getting non contact note 3) + $618(cost of getting note 3 direct from telco) = $130. This is how much he would save, which is comparing your scenario A and scenario B

You are right for both your calculation on scenario A and B. But you cannot say you got the note 3 for free with an additional of $485 profit. As you can see the only differences between the two scenario is just the amount of cash you ended on hand as stated by you, which is $1485 - $632 = $853. This $853 is the amount you earned/saved/profited, whichever you deem fit.

Definitely not $485 + a free note 3 (worth $880) which is quite far off from $853.

PS: I am comparing between scenario A and B all along.

With this ^^ i understand what is wrong...

You guys just think differently..

nashville finds that contract shouldn't be part of the calculation as it is a must have thing...

but you find that contract should be calculated in..

One man's meat is another man's poison....
