Then my parents must be even happier cos their flats all less than 100k since application.
It seems you have absolutely no knowledge of housing price inflation, esp after what happened in the recent years.
Please stop living in your well and self praising how cheap your DBSS was.

I'm not sure if it has been asked, but I was wondering how much would the difference be for the premium and standard in sengkang? Buying house really no kidding. Damn freaking expensive!!!
Thanks.

Sorry may I ask what happen to your wife? Doesn't she have CPF?

If you have 3 kids I assume that both of you are likely to be matured adults who have worked for at least 5 - 10 years.

Yes, I've been working for more than 10 years but not my wife, she's stopped working ever since she had our 1st kid... So her cpf has very little savings...

I am the only one paying for the house... That's why so siong for me...

oh... in that case I guess HDB has been taking into consideration that you are the only person working now and you have a family with kids to feed.

i guess what you can do now is to get a loan from the bank (personal or bridging) using your house as the collateral. but the interests can be a killer though.

otherwise you can sell off your current flat now but that's gonna take a few months and you may not be in time to use the proceeds to pay off the 1st down payment for the new flat. unless you are able to time everything correctly and after the sale, stay with your parents for the next 3-4 years. are you able to do it?

you can try to appeal for hdb to allow you to pay 5% down payment instead of 10 or 20? but i have never try before hence i cannot advise how possible it can be.

you can appeal with hdb but i think your reasons must be very good e.g. why you need to change a new flat... your family size growing and not enough space? as long as you are not buying new BTO as property investment, i think HDB can still help you.

if i am HDB, i would rather give the chance to newly wed that is coming out to start a family (to encourage more marriages and kids), then to you because you are already married, have kids and have a roof over your top (assuming your current flat is a BTO you purchased from HDB previously). Morever, you have more commitments compared to newly wed because your wife is not working and you have kids, whereby newly wed are usually both husband and wife working and have no kid.

anyway all the best to you my friend :)

Thanks.

There is no hard and fast rule to predict the premium for a premium flat. Moreover, both locations in Sengkang are vastly different. As many have advised, just buy what you can afford.

IMHO, there are affordable BTOs. Don't just zoom in on the ones you fancy and cry about how expensive it is.

No. There is no option for you to select which project you want. The units will be lump together and launch as a single application under SK area.
I believe most if not all of the SK applicants are applying becos of the project near the MRT. The other project is launch just to "force" applicants to select the not so popular site.

Seems like this is HDB's latest strategy to get picky Singaporeans to accept sites which are not that favourable. AMK in Sep was a good example...for Nov, SK and TPY both also have 2 different sites.

The locations for the BTOs this time round are so GOOD! Bound to be lots of applications. Especially for the Toa Payoh and Sengkang ones.

Between these 2, which do you think will be more oversubscribed?

Hey Thanks for your input... my current unit is a resale and I have not used any grants from HDB, so technically, I am still a 1st timer... :)

I can't stay with my parents cos my family is too big and my brother is still staying with them... with my in-laws maybe but it will be hard for my kids to get to school as their place is out of the way...

Anyway, I hope that HDB can help, cos my family is growing, my kids are getting older and I definitely need the space...

family growing can be a good reason since our government hopes us to have more kids... you can speak to your MP and explain ur concerns... but my bet is they will take ur story if you already have XXX amount of kids and not plan to have XXX amount of kids.

staying with parents or in-laws while waiting for new flats to come is nothing uncommon in Singapore
