Oic.. the commonwealth SERS block is by surbana..I will post a picture of the SERS block when I pass by the place again this week. I really like the living room's full length window, just that those living on the low floors will have no privacy cos your entire living room is visible... Have to use curtains ..

What is the flat selection process like? For example, if you are given a good queue no. (eg. no.1) does it mean that u can select any unit, any floor from any block? or is it like block A for queue no. 1-50?

During any exercise conduct by hdb.
Be it BTO or SOBF.

Q no will decide who select the unit first.
Let say you are Q1.

You will be the first couple to select.
As you are no 1 . 100000% u can select any unit and floor acquitted for this exercise.

I'm supposed to go for selection of flat this coming thur for whampoa/tertarum area. However, due to location, my gfrd has asked me to forgo it.

1st timer applicant.. do i lose that status as 1st timer if I want to apply for the january bto?

Every 1st timer applicant have 2 chances to forgo the selection. After that, you will be downgraded to 2nd timer for 1 year.

If you have already booked ur unit and forgo it, you will be barred for any BTO launch for 1 yr, irregardless whether u are 1st or 2nd timer.

If you are already offered a flat to select, yes you will forego your first timer application status. Was your queue number good? Why don't you discuss with your gf. That location is actually pretty good leh, close to TPY mrt within a few bus stops. If give me I will definitely take.

Location is the main factor. Drove around there last week and it's rather far from everything .

U will only lose ur 1st timer status if u have been invited to select but rejected twice. They won't penalise u for the 1st rejection.

Don't quite understand how it works though.. How come so many are unavailable already? Is it because of the ppl with q nos earlier than me?

Seriously, it's not good at all.
I was driving around there last week for a feel.. very inconvenient if you have no car, one which i intend to give up due to crazy COE.

Everything is within walking distance.. but long distance...

Everything is within walking distance.. but long distance...

If no rush to get a house than no harm giving up.

Cos house is a long term investment.
Don't because of an act of impulse than regret later.

Initial mapping they gave was vague and looks good...
but after going around, perspective changed.

Yes, they will take it as if you are not keen in applying anymore and only $10 to lose, unless you inform them beforehand that you can't make it or get someone to act on your behalf.

But unless your q number is very far back, you may want to consider waiting as some of the applicants might drop out...That is a risk you might wanna consider taking..

Compare your q number with the number of units available for your room-type e.g. 3-rm/4-rm/5-rm. If your number exceeds the available number of units by alot, then definitely your chances of selection will be lowered, hence lesser units available for you.

Just my 2 cents, if you don't fancy the location as well as having a bad q number, may want to consider waiting for other BTOs (see jan bto thread).

Actually I find that place driving is worse off than not driving. To get to TPY, maybe 4-5 bus stops away but if were to drive out, got to make a huge detour.
