Thanks TS for all the information on Campervan. I am keen on trying probably next year! How much roughly will I need for a budget 10 days trip with flight and all included? No shopping.

summer, winter, Autumn, spring?
shoestring, thrifty, lavish?
ration, basic, gluttony, fine dining?
with friends, loversl? family? (how many?)
more adventure, sightseeing or nua?
WA, NSW, QL, VIC?

Hah, forgot to pass you my telstra SIM with lots of balance calls/text credits.

Yup, I whack 2 cartons from DFS, act blur, waved thru Aussie customs without even asking me 'anything to declare'. Aussie cigs indeed double priced ours, scary. Happily buffing my holiday away. Btw, what was the duty tax like at customs?

My partner also prefer Coles, she feels better variety .
4cts less at Shell, BP works with Woolworths, another with IGA, Gull's cheapest...

hihi ...

im back .. I paid like 90plus oz dollar per cartoon ...

Oz so huge, ask this sort of qn?

But difference is rental half price of nz.
Stoppages for attractions in nz is every 20 mins, in oz every 60 mins.
Distances also 3x longer.

Hmm.. oz is so big, thats why this question.. Not sure where to choose for our first visit to OZ. Personally I'm looking for nature sceneries, nice treks, freedom camping, star gazing & star photography. Might do my pre-wedding shoot as well.
Looking at 13 days including flying time.

Touchme bro, still waiting for your recommendation on which part of oz is good for campervanning

What's your diff with touring and campervanning?

As a first time Aussie visitor, I guess shuttling between Sydney and Melbourne + Mt. Barker+ Yarra (7 days) or/and Melbourne+Great Ocean Route+ Grampians (7 days). Scenic with a mix of city living.

These are some of my other trips itineraries, generally quite common road trips.

2) Sydney (northward)+Scone+New England HW+ Waterfall HW+Coffs (10 days) + Gold Coast (+5 days). Nice camping/waterfalls/hikes + (beaching+ theme parks)

3) Perth> pinnacles> Geraldine:>Kalbarri> Perth (7 days north) + Fremantle>Bumberri> Margaret River> Pemberton> Albany> Perth (7 days south)

4) Adelaide>Port Augustus>Olangatta>Maree>Cooberpedy> Alice Springs> Adelaide or Darwin (14-18 days)

5) Perth(eastwards) > Waverock> Southern Cross>Kalgoorlie> Salmon Arms>Esperance (CapeleGrande NP).> Fitzgerald NP> Albany >as above back to Perth.( 14 days)

6) Darwin>Lichfield>Kakadu NP>Katherine> gorge> Darwin (8-10 days woods/wildlife)

7) Brisbane> Sunshine Coast>Gold Coast>Coffs>Sydney (breaching+ parks+ city) 10-12 days

Planning Brisbane-Cairns and Perth-Broome coming years, to complete circle.
Won't bother with Adelaide to Perth, long straight drives pith nothingness other than with 8-10cars road trains. (trucks towing 8 container loads- awesome sight though, can catch at westwards of Adelaide)

Throw 2 lovebirds in the middle of nothingness, love also flourish.
Add a kid in the future, would be boring hell. So I guess it's ok.

As mentioned, I have not done Perth-Adelaide, Port augusta and esperance/cape LeGrande the furthest out, before the desert stretch.
But I would rather spend the 3,000 km energy/gas on NT or central, if you had already explored all the colors of the east coast.

yup... haha ...
was thinking to do 1 more trip b4 we hv our little 1...

base on my last road trip to WA, fr Perth to Exmouth round trip
and fr Perth to Albany round trip, total I clock about a good 8k km
and total I onli spend like 18 days doing the trip

so this time round, i tot of doing further since i got like about 30 days which I think it quite possible for me to travel fr Perth all the way to Sydney area.

but after doing some research online. seem like the route fr Perth to Adelaide
can be very dry and boring.
so tot of checking out here see whether anyone have done it before and share the experience

Won't be for a while, after many years many times there. More into Japan now that they started campervaning services. I would say perhaps a little more complete

hey...

i hv kind of read about japan too ...
but seem like it not as interesting as OZ lehx.

for japan is more like a holiday chalet type.
camper would usually just hang out at the camper park and enjoy the get away from the city life b4 returning back

nevertheless ... do share about japan camper trip
dun mind trying out something new

japan use campgo from Tokyo and Osaka only. Hiroshima has another renter. There's probably only 2-3 players in japan. Their comprehensive package comes with DC-AC inverter, 3G mifi and other auto/cooking accessories, not offered by Australians. Quite interesting.

But vehicles 5-8 years old, usually windowed van or MPVs, and rental 20% cheaper than compact cars.

Before campers were available in japan, I use to rent the Suzuki Every 660cc and convert it myself, quite amazing can sleep 2A1K still. Mattress/pillows/utensils buy/throw cheap cheap at ¥100 daiso.

hi,
have read your post about your trip and hope to have some advice from you for my first trip with my young children.
I read that for renting, we can underdeclared out number of pax? for my children under 50kg? as my children are 6, 5 and 3, how do we declare to them when we make booking?
total number of pax travelling will be 6, me, wife, kids and helper.
also base on our profile, do you think it will be feasible for us on this campervan holiday or we are better off just staying farm stay or hotel? we are looking to experience campervan experience of a lifetime just that I am wondering if it is safe for us taking into consideration of my young children, can you advice?
and which route will you recommend? base on 10-12 days? I am looking at after cny.
or will nz be more suitable?
thanks for reading and hope to receive your advice.
those who have experienced also please kindly chip in.
cheers
