Wads ah tiongs?
Ah Tiong = China man
Some are rather imba since they have the foundation over at their hometown esp sm2/sm3
Wads ah tiongs?
Hellos, anybody got any idea how's ST2132 Mathematical Statistics taught by Lim ChingHway?

LCH nv taught 2132 before, he taught 2334 last year..
he ish quite fast imo.. sometimes catch no balls 1
but thats me cos moi math suxs![]()
Ooo... thanks for info! His stuff hard or not? As in the notes issit hard to decipher? @@"

You would be surprised at how well the SM2/SM3 scholars do well in these sort of modules (after all, most of them are from QF).
is ST2132 alot of proving? im reading Chapter 6 of the textbook and almost every question is either prove/show that
and how is the exam compared to the behind the Chap questions in the textbook?![]()
Disclaimer. Please take my comments with a pinch of salt because after all, my syllabus was diluted significantly and as such the module was much easier than it should have been.
Lol, the "proving" questions in ST2132 is peanuts as compared to ones seen in MA2108 or even my math S-modules leh. It is not like you need some ingenius idea or method to "prove" those questions in ST2132 lol.
But back to the main story about ST2132, ST2132 can be quite a mindf*** if you don't understand the concepts fully. But once you get it it is quite easy actually (for my sem that is).
I took the module in AY 11/12 Sem 1 under Prof Vap Von Bing. He is a good lecturer, although I felt that he could have taught more stuff (after all, he did skip the whole part on Bayesian statistics, and focused a little too long on the proofs of the Cramer-Rao inequality and what nots!). But he does care for the students and will not hesitate to refer to previous concepts to make sure that the students do not fall behind.
But anyway, the tutorials are quite a breeze for me and my DDP friend (we kinda realised that some of the questions in the tutorials were repeated in terms of style after like, the 5th tutorial?), and our exam and tests were not too hard actually. In fact the standard is comparable to that of the tutorial questions. However, it would be killer and self-suicidal if you interpret the question wrongly (especially the MCQs!)
You would be surprised at how well the SM2/SM3 scholars do well in these sort of modules (after all, most of them are from QF). It is possible to finish the paper for the final examination and still get an A- for the module!(Although I only scored 45/60 for my midterms, and the mean was like, 35/60 with SD 10 marks). My DDP friend, Pikachu_lover scored A+ for the module, despite not bringing in a single cheatsheet into the exam hall! So I guess you need to know your stuff at your fingertips, and be extra careful during the exam.
[And lastly, don't be surprised at the fact that how the normal students actually find this module tough. It is not surprising to hear students asking, eh how to calculate the MLE/MOME and stuff like that after the exam]
In conclusion, be prepared to work hard for this module, because any less than 100% effort would result in you scoring poorly relatively (for my sem), or absolutely (for my friend, who took it in AY 11/12 Sem 2).
wah... y chiu so hardworking. started mugging liao
lucky i taking as audit no sexams :x
but the concepts insai important for lvl 3000 and 4000 modules ma?
or just take the lvl 3000 and 4000 without st2132 also can?
for modules like e.g. clinical trials / epidemiology.

me is lousy.. so need more timecan help me get into the mood of reading again after the long break too
btw wat is taking it as audit?
and i onli know st2132 is the pre-req of alot of lvl 3000/4000 mod.

haha yea i will be taking it next sem.
chiu is from which maj one? y need to audit ST2132 and higher lvl st mod?
I was from comp bio but grad liao... now doing biostatistics at nus, so need learn moar![]()
oh haha u been to the nus chat also rite? no wonder ur nick looks so familiar

hi all! just to confirm, EC1301 principles of econs the test for mid term and final term is in MCQ right?
