Woots my shield arrived today!! set up and installed Kodi for playing videos from my NAS.

what other useful/exciting apps would you recommend? and any general tips on using it?

Which NAS do you recommend?

Feel like using NAS to store videos then make it like host server. Can watch my TV series at relatives house. Possible?

Hmm you can make use of the google assistant to turn off the tv, link to smart home system and use voice command to control your lightings, fans, aircon, etc.
Install emulators to play ps1, snes, sega, neo geo games
Install IPTV app to watch overseas channels.
Install spotify app to listen to music.
Install internet radio app to have better quality radio.
Install chrome for web browsing and stream k drama
Install popcorn app for movie watching.

There is endless capability of the nvidia shield. Its how you plan to use it only. And how intense your research is.

Popcorn app = popcorn time.. highly not recommended as it uses torrents...

I have TerrariumTV and STBemu loaded on it. Really easy to setup and a breeze to use. Any other apps similar like these that are strongly recommended by people here? TIA

How did you manage to setup STBemu? Signed up for some IPTV plans?

Bros, those of you who ordered recently, are you using it with any voltage transformer or plugging in directly?

I know the power plug says 110-240V but when I plugged in my newly received shield yesterday, it tripped my power at home and then refused to power on.

Getting a replacement from Amazon.

Direct plug in and works fine. It's US 2pin so I had to get a 3pin plug (transformer needed)

Streaming via steamlink sometimes freezes. Games that requires gamepad like burnout paradise city are fun to play. FPS games like L4D2 sometimes lag and will boot you out. Well it is still on beta, it looks promising for the future.

There are a few alternatives to the shield tv. But when come to support, you really need to dig deep to find out abt it. The shield is more future proof compare to other boxes. You can try mibox as alternative.

Is anyone using a USB TV tuner with your shield? I would like to use the live channels to watch local free to air channels. I heard hauppauge dual tv tuner would work, any one has tried it before?
