but it doesn't weigh 2pounds. that's the main selling point of this product, which is also the whole point of the Air.

100g does not make a lot of diff if u compare the 11" MBA and the 12" MacBook...

first thing that came to my mind was the crazy low key travel, then within the next minute they explain themselves it's a new technology/design :s22: also no more iconic apple glow logo, and backlit is now a single dot (?), i guess they have to cut some corner to stay as leaders in the thin-laptop category. still, what an engineering marvel on the battery, trackpad and connectivity ports.

gold on a laptop is... like a youngster wearing a gold rolex.

luckily the pricing is still on the lower end, meant for people who don't need the Pro line. or, meant for people who need mobility without the need for several wired peripherals. i just wished they did something more for the Pro :(

You can bet Apple will update the Pro line once the processor for the 15" model is out.

11" MBA is now dead on arrival. no one will buy a 16:9 display when you can get a 16:10 in a smaller package.

anyway, they mentioned the logic board is now MUCH SMALLER then that of the 11" MBA. essentially, the 12" macbook just has again set the gold standard for what you really need in MBA/ultrabook form.

they updated the trackpad, so i think the processor update is just a speed bump as always, and reliant on Intel's product line. anyway, 2.5Ghz or 3Ghz isn't going to make a difference for me. i was hoping for a better camera, speakers, or GPU. but it's okay, unless they make a Mac Pro style MBP, i think the rMBP specs can't change much in its current form factor.

They will redesign the rMBP while upgrading the CPU and GPU. Will include Force Touch trackpad for the 15" model. Probably end of this year. Wait for it.

Macbook air 11 better than this. Wider screen horizontally means u can make webpage text bigger. Just that scrolling will be more than this new mac. Many videos on youtube now is borderless on my 11 air yet with border on my 17' because all 16;9

Yes you need to buy USB C to USB adapter then USB card reader. Unless some 3rd party comes up with USB C to card reader.

Core M is trash. Going that route doomed the Macbook, but it had no choice anyway.

Was happy to see more color option and bigger screen yet lighter compared to mba 11 but the single USB-C port only really a deal breaker :(

The 11" MBA is the most bang for buck laptop now. It was priced equivalent to the USD when the SGD was much weaker. No retina not a problem, just bump up the contrast for normal day to day use. Retina of course better for apps like photoshop, but most people will not use those apps.

Moreover, early adopters of any new Apple product will definitely find themselves looking for an upgrade in a years time as the first iteration of any apple product will go through significant changes.

We will know in April how much better the 12" will be. For specific uses like buying one for kids or getting a spare, the 11" purchased from overseas might be a very good proposition.

Let's not forget that there will be a 12" iPad coming soon.
