Padfone S got better specs over Zenfone 5 LTE, of course price is also higher.

Btw, how was your Padfone 2 serving you?

hmmm no indication of how much the price of the docking station would be.. but looking at the specs, $399 is pretty good..

to be honest, I have been using my padfone 2 without the dock. I sold it off after 3 months cos I have a nexus 10 which i use separately as tablet :s13: but i like the phone. battery life is better compared to s3 (the only other android phone i have used so far). more smooth and less lag compared to s3 too. only thing i dont like is no SD card.. now my padfone 2 dying i need to backup onto cloud, cannot dump everything into SD card and put in new phone..

However, after i recently updated to the new firmware with ZenUI, the camera seems to have deteriorated. my pics become quite grainy compared to before the firmware update.. definitely is a software issue since before that was quite okay.

Padfone S has SD card slot though, so its good.

BTW: Padfone S = Padfone X?? saw the review video is for Padfone X

It's quite a hefty phone, imho. Thick, but overall still compact and comfortable to hold in my hand. It's quite drop-proof and keeps out water pretty well, so if you are't the kind to give TLC to your phone, I think the Padfone S robustness will work great. No, didn't try bending, but its size-form should not lend itself to bending easily. :p

Just dropped by Asus outlet at Funan to have a glimpse of this Padfone S.

As according to the sales staff, the 9" Pad Station will only be available 4 weeks later. No indication on the price.

Padfone S retail price is $449, and now they are selling it at $399, a promotional price for a specified period.

IMPO, the overall outlook appearance does not seems pleasing enough to draw attention or attracts my eye, however the Padfone S specifications are great. Although it is classified as a 5" model, in physical height it is slightly shorter than Zenfone 5 LTE.

The display set is not loaded with a lot of stuff, hence I can feel the swiftness and responsiveness are good.

The only setback is the volume which I considered is not loud even though it is at its highest level setting. Well it maybe only me because I have ear buds sticking into my ear almost all day long, if you know what I meant.

The phone is pretty value for money.

Bought it for my mum as her first smart phone.

Load up "Smart launcher 2" for its minimalist interface since this phone as no "easy mode"
and good to go.

Pros
1080p 5"
Snapdragon 800

Cons
Battery size ( have yet to test actual battery life)
Speaker volume (Although it is quite clear when doing video playback)

edit: 399 is include the 9" pad? if not not that worth it.

edit again: wtf taiwan so cheap? only sgd 210. so far the asus phones i used all never die within 1 year. if like that should get from taiwan seh. we can use their phones right.
