i know this might sound obvious, but have you tried another browser? because the way you describe it, it seems like the problem lies with the browser and not the comp.

has always been an IE person =:p

anyway i bump up the brightness to 40% now and it seems much better. Guess i can live with that.

Thanks for the tip. Maybe i get around to using another browser one of these days...

I was thinking along the lines of Skyrim and DC: Online Universe games. This laptop is portable enough and I just hope that it can be able to support these games.

Hmm...i just did more testing.

I open excel or word, then open Asus Vibe which has black background screen or other similar programs. Next close or mini Vibe after few secs then when going back to excel/word, i can see the screen slowly brighten up to my settings.

Hmm...seems to be a feature of some software or ???

another thing is if wake from sleep, no such problem.

Hmm...interesting.

If on battery, the screen will do the slow brightness thing.

but if on mains, this problem goes away. So i guess it must be the settings for power plan.

I encounter the same thing using Mozilla. Must be a software thing, just adjusting or something.

Do all 256 GB models come with Elantech touchpads, or do some come with Sentelic as well?

so to everyone who have owned their ux31 for a while already, how has everything been?
thinking of finally getting it. just want to know what experiences everyone had so far (after using for quite a while). the forum has been quite quiet, but i guess no news is always good news, because no complaints?! ha.

Does anyone know when exactly the new batches of UX31 are coming out from Asus Taiwan?

And whether the new batches solve the problems of the current batch? ie, poor wifi signals, dead pixels on screen, slower Sandisk 256GB SSD which rips off its highest-end model customers :(

heard that a newer model has surfaced on some places. "XH" replacing the "DH"s. So i am still temporarily holding out but i dont know how long more i want to do that before just leaping to another labtop. Asus singapore is worse than hopeless when it comes to getting any answers from them.

Interesting. Where did you get this 'XH' info? The first UX31 batch (ie, SITEX for sg) has some problem but is common given this is Asus first ultrabook attempt. I intend to get the UX31 256GB if they release the new batch in the 1st/2nd week of January 2012. If not I probably get the Sony Vaio SA at a similar price, since no point waiting forever for laptops. Please keep this thread posted with any new updates :)

Understand that the RAM is not upgradeable so the question is .........

It is using a 64bit OS so should the system be running using 8GB RAM or 4GB RAM will do.

OR

I am wrong

Just wondering

freddy: 4gb ram should work fine for most things most ppl do. unless u are doing a lot of 3d video rendering and stuff.

mindsg: it has surfaced on amazon for ux21, you can go take a look. and on other websites like xoptic. i emailed them asking about the difference and one of their rep said this:

"The only real difference in those two difference ASUS UX31 models, is the XH51 version comes with the Windows Professional Operating System. The DH52 comes with Windows Home Premium. Is actually a cheaper model when you got with the DH52 and upgrade to the Windows Pro if you wanted that.

As far as the parts go, we cannot guarantee the brand names. It is truly up to the manufacturers and what is available at the time of build."

but i still get the feeling that maybe the later batches are more stable with earlier problems fixed. but then again, i m guessing that it is also possible to live with the older model as other ppl who have posted in this forum have stopped posting, so well, no news is usually good news.

it has been said that a whole new range of ultrabooks are going to be unveiled in CES 2012, but by the time it hits the market, it will be like more than 6 mths from now i guess. unless u want to wait ... which i dont think i want.

Anyone who want the UX31 "URGENTLY" can try buying from Malaysia, JB. This is what my friend did.

Price is slightly cheaper only by SIN $50+/- depends on exchange rate.

As ASUS is giving International warranty I believe it is no differnce if the set breakdown

My Old DELL D630 which is purchased in Singapore have 3 years International warranty.

When I was in China, XIAN. My DELL went died and Motherboard was change completely onsite and at no cost.

Cut n Paste for the roashow website in Malaysia

The ASUS Zenbook is available now at the ASUS roadshow at Low Yat Plaza's concourse until the 13th of November. The Zenbook starts at RM3,299 for the UX21 (Core i5, 128GB SSD) and RM4,499 for the UX31 (Core i7, 256GB SSD).

ASUS UX Owners,

Got some quick questions and appreciate someone can answer me.

1. Does the set comes with a warranty card ? or do you use the Purchase order as proof of warranty ?

2. Which model of the ASUS external CD ROM did you purchase, how much and purchase from where ?

3. Anyone purchase the LCD screen protector for the screen like the matt or glossy type? Purchase from where and cost ?

4. As for the keyboard, protective sleeves that fits exactly to the keys contour or just a flat sheet ? Purchase where and how much.

5. Does all Singapore UX 31 set comes by default 2 years international warranty ?

I believe quite a number of UX users will be interesetd with my "POP UP" questions, :D

regards

How much is the 128 i5 version?
I went and check north point version today and found out that they carry the adata version. But there is only the i7 version on display, and the sales person himself also dunno the pricing.
