I have tried CloudReady OS but Linux didn't work and no Play store.

Recently I found this tutorial which install a full Chrome OS on any generic laptop. It looks promising and I will try it out soon

Looking for Chromebook for my P2 kids. The budget is from arnd 250 - 400 SGD. Locally sold chromebooks tend to be more on high side, while Lazada sells many refurbished ones for arnd $200 ++. But not sure, how long those will last.
Browsing Amazon, I saw many chromebooks in this price range. What i understand , is that usually they wont have international warranty.
Any feedback ?
1 ) Is it Ok to buy from Amazon ?
2) Can recommend some chromebook in the pics below Or any local dealer also OK ?
Thanks Folks.

some considerations

chromebook for school
- consider laptop form factor [as compared to tablet+keyboard], good typing experience is key for schoolwork
- consider bigger screen, e.g. 14 or 15 inch screen; many cheap chromebook are 11.6-inch screen, the form factor is lighter [useful if bringing to and from school, but bigger screen better for the child's eyes, if mainly used for HBL]

amazon
- assume zero warranty if buying from amazon; claiming warranty is complicated, and will likely involve having to send faulty product back to seller [which will incur shipping charges]
- compare between amazon.sg and amazon.com, prices can be different
- pay in USD if buying from amazon.com [amazon's conversion rate not as good as our credit card's conversion iirc]
- scrutinise the specs very carefully, some listings are by 3rd party, and misleading, check reviews also for feedback on quality
- some products listed are refurbished set, hence so cheap, manage your expectations for refurbished sets
- factor in shipping cost, and keep price below s$400 [above that, have to factor in gst]

other considerations
- check online for reviews of the specific model u are considering, good reviews will mention issues like keyboard/trackpad quality, screen issues if any, etc.

just checking is there any requirement on the specs for chrome OS?
I just managed to install chrome OS on a old Lenovo ThinkCentre desktop. Everything is working great, Linux is also working after disabling a flag at chrome://flags#crostini-use-dlc

My first try didn't worked when it was stuck at the Brunch Framework boot up.
I then tried a earlier version of brunch and it managed to boot up beautifully.
You can find more info at the brunch website under the wiki section.

Hi anyone here can advise if the Lenovo 500e Gen 2 Chromebook under the MOE PLD scheme is able to connect to wireless sg or wireless sgx? If you are able to, please share the steps. Thanks
