I use VideoReDo TVSuite V4 as well to trim out adverts i.e raw TS recordings (NPVR) to raw TS with adverts trimmed. My next step is purely a personal choice cos i've been uploading to youtube, etc but the good news is i use Handbrake but shrink to 720p/MP4 - for DVB-T2 recordings E-AC3 5.1 audio works best i find ;)

For handbrake, yesterday i had to select the stereo AAC (second track). the default 5.1 AAC has the stuttering sound for every option.

Btw, VideoReDo is not free :(

Currently still surfing for a good TS splitter or TS editor without transcoding (ie just pure cutting)

If you are interested, read up on megui. I personally find megui to be a much more versatile tool as compared to handbrake.

Alot people recommend AVISynth and MeGUI on other forums over the years but i never quite understand how to get it working correctly. I remember downloading and trying it every 1 year last time until i found TMPGEnc, which is also not free.

Handbrake is by far one of the better free alternative if i really had no other choice but it can be quite inflexible at times, depending on situation

if you need help I can teach you. I have been encoding tv shows for quite awhile already.

VideoRedo... You can "climb mountain" to see if it works for you first, if you like it and use it then buy it.

I contemplated buying it, but because it doesnt really work for me with some transports, so ended up not buying it.

I just tried VideoReDo. Quite easy to use and so far not much of a issue yet. However I cant seem to find the feature whereby i wan to split or save segment by segment. Like first segment before first advert etc etc. The software will always lump them together.

But so far its working fine for me and im still playing with some sample files and see what bitrate is good. So far I set to 1080i with 5000 kbps bitrate. It still doesn't look that bad. I think I may lower to H.264 Main profile (still trying to look for this setting) and around 3000kbps and see how is the playback and file size to transfer to devices such as mobile devices.

I am not sure if it is Next PVR's problem or DVB-T2 issue.

I recorded a version of DVB-T HD5 via PowerCinema 6 and almost every TS demuxer i tried could detect all the streams without any problem. When I record T2 HD8 via NPVR, almost every demuxer couldnt read the audio stream, except tsremuxer. But after i remux (demux and then mux), the file will not play.

Can someone help me on this? I know VideoReDo has met my needs but im just playing around and hope i can edit clips based on the elementary streams if needed

Note: Btw PowerCinema doesnt support T2, if not i wouldnt need to use NPVR :)

EDIT: A little googling shows that the LATM AAC codec used in encoding is causing some issues in reading the AAC streams. Some reported that can use VLC to encode to normal AAC but i havent been able to do so :(

send me the ts and I can take a look at it..

I'm not sure if this might work since I hardly work with ts- use megui. Tools ->HD Streams Extractor. Select file as input ( your ts file). Extract the audio streams.

Re-encode the offending audio-stream to ac3/aac in megui, keep bitrate same, channels same, etc etc.

Remux into ts

Not sure if this is what you want

Seems like what u said is like what I have been experimenting with using eac3to. I was able to demux but couldn't mux back due to LATM.

The file i am using is the same file you requested, unless u meant the HD5 one.

Will try MeGUI again soon. Will probably try it in the evening. Now i am looking if i can encode the LATM into normal AAC (LC). Usually using normal audio encoding software works, but HD8 has 5.1 audio which the software doesnt support. Am looking at Nero AAC CLI now.

I think it's definetly a codec issue bah.. the track 1 you sent me doesnt play smoothly, the track 2 is fine.

Not sure why either, my knowledge of tv capping very limited..

EDIT: Guys, just got my TBS5220 off buydvb.

I still cant seem to scan any channels on my DVBViewer , not very sure why.

Anyone can advise?

How do you play the file? I play using VLC and the track 1 (chinese) is fine. Track 2 (if manually select from VLC) has no sound. But if i watch live from NPVR the main track does not play properly; have to manually select second track.

I rmb trying both software supplied with 6281. Both given me alot of issues. One of them i cannot even scan channels. The other works fine BUT if i were to try later or the next day it doesnt show images anymore. i can still change the channel and detect EPG but just no footage. End up i got fedup and used NPVR first.

I play with PotPlayer...

I think is codec issue.

HE-AACv2 I cannot play without stuttering in PotPlayer, but my friend can play with no problems.

To capture SH show only can use htpc?

If you have a recorder set top box IIRC SH boxes you can record via composite/component out (HDMI cannot confirm) For HTPC you can get a PCI-e capture card and it depends if you want to record in SD (composite/S-Video) or HD (component/HDMI if works) I suspect using those cards with HD recording via HDMI-to-component cables would be least problematic ^^ FYI i have a multiple tuners HTPC where i record DVB-T2 FTA with one tuner and SD recording via S-Video on another card for my MIO TV box

bro the problem is now not easy to get a device to rec via composite/component out

i wil prefer component out so i can get HD. Now SH all is HD already.

but build a HTPC to record isit too over?

if the recording serves your family well i dun think it's over but i would really shop for basic 2nd hand PC Parts and assemble a cheap HTPC ;)
