ok... maybe you can relocated to KL and draw MYR if the MNC has moved it's core there....

ok la.. 10 years ago I still can do GL with an MNC... with the processing work all done in India. I remember they did try to move more work over there too including the GL.... even SG Financial statement preparation they also tried to do it there lol
Other than AP AR GL, the rest of the functions have been getting moved elsewhere cheaper already. The line is doomed ….

Recently got 2 offers not sure which to choose.

  1. Different industry from where I am now, 18% paycut. Need to managed a team. Stable MNC company with AWS and VB.
  2. No paycut. Similar industry from where I am now but higher risk of losing job since it's a startup and. No AWS or VB.
Welcome all inputs

startup takes longer time to become profitable. Which means your AWS & bonuses might be empty handed For years.

you need to calculate annual income.
your mnc AWS + bonuses might be more than startup.

of coz. If your start up become a shining star , then you will be rewarded since you ar the early batch. But is a huge gamble.

you have to ask yourself whether at your age , at your stage. Do you want to or can afford to risk it. :(

I tot of the annual package too. MNC will need AWS and 2 months bonus in order to match my current.

nowadays MNC also anytime can chop you so I wouldn't consider is as "stable".

it depends on whether you really want to venture into the new industry or stay in the old. But new industry then already managing a team ? your ka kia will "fu" you or not ?

don’t forget you are leading a team as well and not just an individual contributor in start-up.

if you wanna step up your career progression. You need to manage a team. Managing ppl is the most problematic. But if you know-how. It will be value added experience.

so do Think twice about all factors.

there is a reason why you apply for different industry ? :)

Leading a team is not new to me since I done it before.
I applied for the industry cos they are in need of someone of my skillset and knowledge so there is transferable skills

Managing people is a different ballgame. Since this is a new industry for you, you need to carefully weigh the pros and cons of whether you can juggle both the transition and the added responsibility. On top of that, you're taking a pay cut for a role you’ve never done before.

Startups are inherently risky as they can wind up at any time.

With all that in mind, you need to ask yourself: Do you really want to move out of your current industry? And if you're accepting a lower salary, how long do you think it will take to climb back to your current pay level? Also, if taking the new role, can you performed in it?

Is it really not possible to negotiate the pay? It’s a bit ironic if they genuinely need your expertise, why can’t they match your current salary?

That said, if you're comfortable with the pay cut, then go for it. But an 18% reduction is quite steep. A 5–10% cut might be more reasonable, especially if the role is in a new industry and genuinely interests you.
