Piggyback guides are very good; Brady, Prima not so much. Years ago I used to PO hardcover from Bookdepositary for the big titles, usually SGD28-30 range.

Typically guide books are just to keep (for the art and whatever), most games are not so complex to actually need guide, and often IGN and other sites have very detail guide for the biggest titles, so don't really need physical books.

hmmm for me I rely quite heavily on guidebooks in the past for Final Fantasy series...there's just to many hidden quests and tips hidden in final fantasy that can be missed out if you didn't have an official guide...case and point in FF7
if you didn't have the guide you wouldn't actually know about the ultimate weapons since its not part of the main story
or in FF10
same about ultimate weapons
or FF13
I never played ff13 but I'm sure got some secrets that aren't part of the main story
sorry about so many spoilers lol

There are online guides from sites like IGN that's very detail, like:

FF XV
FF XIII
FF X
FF VII

Don't know if they cover those specific cases you mentioned, but typically there's quite a lot of depth there.

Actually the guide book is like 1/3 of the cost of the game? Compared to guide books that also cost around $30 in the past, this is considered very value for money alr.

So all getting the DLC version? I'm getting misery after spending $300+ on the console.. :s13: Will check out the guide books.

Going for Distant Worlds tomorrow :s12:

Unbeknownst to many, Piggyback actually made guides from FF8 to FF12, plus FF13

prima ff7 was very good. everything as inside.

the book was so thick the pages all came out after i use a few times..

thicker than my textbook i rmb..my father keep say if only that was my textbooks hahaha

ff7 prima guide was the only guide book i bought anyway. the rest of the books keep getting thinner and thinner and there was no need to buy cus gamefaqs guides

now i think if no gamefaqs, ign is the next best thing. got pictures and video also.
but the way they structure their guides is ~_~ cus sidequest is another page so need to load another tab

From Chapter 3 onwards, that's when things really feel quite nostalgic.

The imperial guard is definitely not easy. I had to use Phoenix down and elixirs also. Fighting the hunt monster then suddenly drop down.

Running out of Gil after buying all the curatives. I guess I'm halfway into chapter 2 and didn't even realise spent 10 hours into the game alr.

Here's a tip. At chapter 3 or 4, I started doing sidequests.
Use fast travel as often as possible when you have been to those areas previously. You can also use map point to fast travel to towns and parking areas. Then from there, a short drive to the sidequest monster hunting.

Once you've fast traveled back and forth between many missions, go to Lestarium or the beach Hotel rest area (if you have the cash at a high level allowing you to do higher sidequests and getting more Gil)

Purpose is to take advantage of the 1.5 and 2x Exp.
I managed to do many side missions to the point where I can drive at night without daemons popping up on the road with my upgraded car headlights that are so bright that they can't spawn (got it from a Cindy sidequest) Once I've reach up to 60000+ experience (5 days of game world), I use the "Return to Rest point" to go to the beach hotel and pay the 5000 GIL to get double the experience points. Then next morning, I use the "Return to Car" to teleport myself back to the sidequest area and continue on my quest.

Now at level 50+ even though I am at episode 8 before taking a boat to another country. :s13:

For weapons, I recommend the ones at the Lestarium weapon shop. When you do sidequests later on, you'll get some other powerful weapons you pick off the ground along the way. Then for fighting daemons such as imps in those dark corridor type sidequests, I recommend you go to the town near the blocked road on the right of Vesperpool on the top left of the map. The weapon shop in that town has weapons for "holy" damage on the daemons.
Well.. That's my tip for now for lower level players who want a faster way of grinding since if you fast travel, you'll gain more exp and GIL more quickly since you can finish the quests earlier and do you next quest earlier prior to the end of the day.

Chapter 2,hmm why not go farm the red monster mini boss behind hamer head?it the direction behind hammer head, there a camp site very nearby.Super spot to train.

The monster is lvl38,one hit will kill u if u below lvl 20.But u can make use of that location with lots of warp point, use noct to warp strike the monster then warp to hang up,then warp again.

Remeber to equip spear, attack power low nvm since that monster is weak against it,u warp ,low level hit a little but somehow u keep warp strike him,he will fall down, cannot get up,that where the fun begin, when u combo attack it,it will cause alot of damage, something like ff13,stagger the enemy theory

No need to bother abt your allies, let them die first, use noct can already. When the monster abt to KO,then recover all your allies to earn the exp

Have fun,it a very nice fight with that monster,i manage to train from lvl 14 all the way up to lvl 30
He give about 2500exp

strike at the monsters blindside then link with your team for blindside link then break. most monsters should drop easily and you hardly need to heal.

if still too difficult for you, then buy a gun and stand at safe distance to shoot. once in awhile use warp strike and team techniques. if still cannot then use ignis regroup and you spam magic. magic in this game is very effective but downside is it has limited usage.

Can use the cactuar method someone already mentioned before. But it's totally cheese mode and allows you to get to lv40+- at chapter 1...

Isn't that going to be quite a long and painful fight? How long would the fight take, certainly doesn't sounds like 5mins kind of fight.

I think getting quests is still more value for your time.

Anywhere to farm Phoenix down ah? This game is really hard to farm Gil plus the hotel stays and Phoenix down cost, I've never exceeded 10k and I don't even buy many items to start.

It more of a challenge which i enjoy fighitng at low level against boss.

Just like ff13 loh,at first take some time but once the monster fall down,u deal heavy damage even at low lvl, just like ff13.

Or u can try to posion it,if u wish, make posion magic.use it,then hang up and see the monster hp drop, when it get near u,u just warp and hang at another point. Then continue until die

Farm gil, just go kill those low lvl monster that drop the claw loh,one piece 90 gil only but they always appear then contiune kill but i also low in gil lol
