Hi all, I am new to the forum, but I am here to offer some of my 2 cents.

I am indifferent to who ultimate wins for the Sengkang GRC. My only hope is that whoever wins can spare some time to look at the development for Sengkang, especially Sengkang East.

There are so many developments in the Sengkang West area but sadly there is extremely little changes made to Sengkang East area. I stayed near to the Campassvale LRT for years. There is no hawker center near my house and I have to take a bus just to buy food. Just think about it,, I need to take a bus just to buy food. This is unbelivable when you compare this to the other parts of Singapore.

Yes, I agree that having more hawker centers may not reduce the price of food in the short run. At the very least, this can provide greater convenience to all of the nearby residents. Costs are also reduced as we do not need to take a bus to buy food.

I am extremely puzzled and even sad that there are so few attention focused on Sengkang East. I will more than happy to vote whoever can offer a solution to this.

Eh...dude. if you want more attention, vote WP. Scare the hell out of PAP. PAP is scared to lose so vote WP would make them work harder for you. Look at how Victor Lye is begging to be voted in. :s13:.

FYI, I'm among the first batch to vote WP in 2011. Used to stay in Hougang St 22.

PAP once get the vote would push you aside and concentrate on other things. Ng Chee Meng can be replaced by Patrick Tay as labour chief. No worries there.

You are lucky to have good opposition there unlike other GRC. See how WP vote against the bills in Parliament. This should be what Parliament is all about.

Sengkang west is under pinky amk grc, even when they were still a SMC, they r under the same town council. I mentioned this b4 on this forum. This is why they receive better treatment than the east and central side. See even the mall in that ulu place also got a cinema, u say leh.... Heck, even at SK station I feel the lrt frequency for the west is higher than the east.
Wake up bah...

I will vote to whoever can help to provide more amenties and hawker centers to Sengkang east. There is no changes and no new amenties for Sengkang East for years. This is extremely puzzling and sad.

Vote for WP, u confirm wont have hawker centres. The most upgrade of playground, fitness corners and shelters. Because this is all the TC can do within their jurisdiction.

You vote for PAP, they have more influence over HDB and Nparks who controls the land around here. But they also wont build hawker centre for you because they will have to identify an under utilised land in order for you to do that. And they are very cost driven, so the planners wont think that it is cost effective.

My solution will be to modify and expand existing LRT station's level 2 gate level to become an F&B or food kiosk. There are some unused space and the structure can be expanded outwards. Even sell old chang kee and fried bee hoon also will have people buy. Saw a kiosk selling nasi lemak at one of the lrt station, though I believe is illegal.

The problem is bad plan from the start. In order to make up they have to those demolish low level building but doubt they will do this

I respect your voting choice but I am just sharing an experience here.

I used to stay at PE side. Rivervale Crescent to be exact. moved in since 05. For years residents have been calling for a bus service to serve the area. It obviously fell on deaf ears.

Then the Palmer thing happen, and we had a By election in 2013, which WP won.

Now I know LLL have written to LTA and PRPG TC to ask for it because it was updated in the newsletter they give out.

And lo and behold, a bus stop was built less then a year later and a bus service was running thru it.
Remember that BSEP only came into being in 2013, which allowed Govt to buy buses outright and pay the bus operator to run it. If LLL were elected earlier, you would still have to wait until 19 Jan 2014 for 371 to be introduced. SBST did not have the funds to pump in more buses due to bus fares not keeping up with costs since the 2008 recession, only enough for them to cover variable costs. Many of these bus plans do not happen overnight.
