"Asked how low prices could go next year if Opec failed to change course, he said: "Mid-20s." Goldman Sachs said this year it saw a possibility of crude going even below US$20 because of the huge global oversupply, a strong dollar and a slowing Chinese economy." :s22::s22:

be wary.

oil can go up due to geopolitical tensions but unless something solid materialises it will not stay up in what has been one of the most textbook and facinating bear markets of this decade.

there is more news of companies delaying orders from sembmarine, more unstability from petrobras and opec is staying its course.

smart money is in the shorts but as shorting inherently carries more risk as compared to longs, take care on both sides of the trade.

sadly there is no clear benchmark tracking shale defaults because to date thats not even happening in full swing yet.

chinese production numbers come lower and lower each month.. previous highs werent broken in all major indicies.. end of the 7 yr cycle.. caution is the best advice anyone could give and get.

Exposure to non-performing O&G loans?
Or maybe due to slowing growth in China economy? I think their exposure to China is the most out of the 3 banks. Maybe partly due to their acquisition of Wing Hang Bank earlier.

Is there a particular reason why you think it will not?
From what news site are reporting, this is not the first time they claim to take steps to stabilize the market. However their actions seem to be producing record amounts of oil further causing the oil price to go down.

I vested in some O&G counters though hoping oil price can recover.
saudi seems quite fed up with the other members and it makes sense not to cut in order for the sheikhs to defeat the shale

Plus indonesia, a net importer, has returned to opec. I can't comprehend why opec picked a net importer as their new member

Oil chiong is good for the market
only good for oil producers and brokers, oil rig makers, pipe makers etc. It is also good for traders who r bullish on interest rates since higher prices means inflation

i don think it's good for everybody

Oil too low like 40 is no good
Oil too high like 120 also no good

If want to bull market, oil around $80 seems right

Maybe need a war to bring balance to the force lol
