Start with the basics.

1. A good ip camera to observe them and check on them when you're not at home.
2. a connected lock which will report its lock status.
3. lights controlled by movement sensors to auto on/off at hallway /night lights to illuminate their way when they wake up at night to go to toilet
4. Switches that report their on/off state
5. temperature sensor to automate aircon temp.
6. Robot Vacuum to help with cleaning

this is what i have done for my parent's home so far

Good list. Add an echo into that solution so they can ask her to call for help if they fall and cannot get up.

I put an echo dot in my parents bedroom and living room just in case something like that happens. Trained them to always use her whenever they wanted to speak to me. Hopefully they will remember to shout for her to call me if they fall and cannot get up.

Any budget method to integrate ceiling fan using rf remote to home automation? Understand harmony elite can do it but trying to look for cheaper alternatives,

Can the fan be configured to be on with the wall switch?

It will depend on the fan already. If the fan only turn on the light when powered on, there is nothing the aqara switch can do.

You will have to ask the fan manufacturer or vendor to see if it can be modified.

Bro, fan controlled by remote right? U r probably i the same situation as me... Need a rf/ir receiver to communicate to the fan, then use maybe home assistant or something similar to do a if/then setup to trigger to on the fan when switch is turned on.
The 大师s here, do correct me if I'm wrong or there's a easier way to do it

Thanks that make sense... fan runs on RF and xiaomi no rf “communicator” (got IR thou)... hopefully they come out with one...

Is home assistant considered a ecosystem by itself?

in the process of renovating my bto.. i am intending to install ceiling fans with lights. given this, what will be the most budget-friendly way of achieving HA for lights and fans?

have been reading other threads about using a logitech harmony / broadlink rm pro.. will this work? what are the restrictions?
