Just off the phone with DBS RM.

He said can use DBS Remit to HSBC local for USD transfer and he recalled it has no fees.

He will check and revert.

BTW, DBS RM very busy one - he confirmed that he has 300 banking customers on his plate (same sort of numbers that a HSBC RM handles).

My HSBC RM also says HSBC RM handles about 300 banking customers. Too busy. That's why RM use 80/20 rules as well... :ROFLMAO:

2 similar experiences:

1. One RM, when I told him I may want to downgrade, he immediately sent me an email to ask me to confirm (very eager that I leave). Otherwise, when I messaged him whether he is free to talk, it is a while later to respond and to say he is in a meeting and to fix a time/ date.

2. A second RM, when I told him nothing to bao chiak after promo, he told the best recourse for us looking for rewards is not to stay. And not to come back to him if we rejoin for new promo.

3. The reality is RM needs u to invest in products with him. If you dont, basically he will want to swap u out for someone who will and if he got 300 on his plates, he need u to leave first before the bank put in someone new to take your place.

This is my experience with HSBC. There are 2 type of premier. The first is you meet the >S$200 and it will be managed by Premier Relationship Manager. The second is <S$200 and it will be managed by Premier Relationship Consultant. The second type are usually qualified as premier because they are a premier in one of the HSBC overseas accounts, hence, they are eligible for premier in HSBC SG.

Premier RM is usually super busy and yes, they will want you to invest with him. The second one, Premier Relationship Consultant is more towards operation and they also handle X number of banking customer but are usually inactive customers. Hence, they have time to manage the clients.

I was with <$200 initially and I get good support. As soon as I >S$200K, I moved to premier RM, they are too busy for me. I requested to move back to the Premier Relationship Consultant and it was approved to revert back to the one previously handle me. I have a meeting with her in December and she explained to me. She also advise me the HSBC premier team usually review the criteria between these 2 groups of premier and moved them between Premier RM and Premier Relationship Consultant. She told me if I received an email they are moving me over to Premier RM, I just have to let her know and she will pull me back. So it is better to manage by Premier Relationship Consultant than a Premier RM.

I joined the 6-month Treasures promo from Oct 2025 to Mar 2026 (no min AUM for this 6-mth period)
When I met the RM in Oct 2025, & after going thru the list of his recommendations, I told him frankly that I wouldn't be interested those products he recommended (FCN, Insurance, etc.).

Then I asked the question: after the 6-month period, if I just maintain the AUM without purchasing any products from him, is it good or bad for his performance? My reasoning was:

If DBS measures RM performance solely by the returns they generate based on AUM under their care (i.e. Return/ AUM), then definitely is bad because I gave him zero return (numerator) & higher AUM (denominator).

But if DBS also measures RM based on the AUM under their care (e.g. clients can do online trades in shares, or transfer shares from CDP to DBS), then at least it partially mitigates the "zero return" issue.

He didn't answer directly but just beat around the bush.

charged by HSBC? no...

the only charges I had to pay was to DBS (for remitting out to HSBC). Around USD23.
Usually inward TT to DBS account got charge S$10.

I also heard Treasures no charge for foreign currency.

I am also HSBC Singapore Premier and I use it to open HSBC account overseas so that I can TT from DBS to respective HSBC account with no fee and transfer to respective account that has interest.
1. ok. DBS RM reply (essentially, he tried on his own account).

2. DBS Remit is free. BUT he cant seem to transfer to banks in SGD for USD.

3. He said if you try DBS Remit and it works, then it works free of charge.

4, He said for transfer from DBS to HSBC SG, there is a $20 cable charge. There is also a handling commission - this he can waive. If there is an agent bank fee, this cannot be waived.

5. Amount greater than S$200k, he asked I go to bank.

6. Looks like open a HSBC USA account might be the best recourse (but does it need min money in it and which earns zero interest or fall below fees applies?)

There is a 6 months promo? Only saw the invite that it'll end by December 2025, did they extend it for you?

The RM only paid when they sell you new products, hold products unlikely they would be compensated much for it. Otherwise why the RMs always push for to do new things.

that's about right, I was charged both the cable charge ($20) and handling fee ($10 I think) so totally around SGD30 which converts to around USD23.

that was paid soley to DBS. HSBC did not charge me anything (as Premier) for accepting the USD, nor for transferring out from HSBC after.

USD received by HSBC = USD remitted from DBS - cable charge - handling fee

I made the stupid mistake of not checking the minimum amount needed for USD Fixed Deposit promotion by HSBC, and so I had to transfer it back to DBS (to continue to use their USD FD)

USD received by DBS = USD remitted from HSBC

no incoming charges by DBS when they received from HSBC. no outgoing charges by HSBC when they sent to DBS.

If you are a HSBC Premier, you can open HSBC USA account without minimum. However, they will ask you the reason for opening and you must provide valid reason.

I transfer from DBS to HSBC US before and it takes about 3 hours to hit my account. After that, I will global transfer within HSBC account instantly.

It is free to remit DBS to HSBC US. Then global transfer to any of the HSBC account.

HSBC SG offers 0.15% with no minimum.
HSBC HK offers stock monthly investment plan and the account comes with RMB settlement which allow me to bind the debit card to Alipay and Wechat and use in China (deduct directly from RMB account). For China A shares, dividend also credit to the RMB account.
HSBC Jersey trade UK shares and dividend credit to HSBC Jersey pound account. Then I transfer to HSBC UK saving account that has interest rate. If I need to buy UK shares, I just transfer between HSBC UK and Jersey.
