One thing I like about Keppel Reit is that its portfolio consists of Grade A+ office buildings (surrounding Marina Bay). To me, they are like the luxury goods that wouldn't failed to find tenants even in a recession market (provided if they are willing to reduce the rents).

K reit asset quality is good like cct
However keppel corp always dump those assets to k reit at high prices
K reit also has a history of doing rights issue once every 2 years

Fed officials are not likely to change their economic forecasts or their projections for interest rates over the next three years, economists said. At the moment, the central bank is penciling in two rate hikes in 2017, followed by three rate hikes each in 2018 and 2019. Markets scan the Fed’s “dot plot” to extract a snapshot of Fed thinking on economic and policy projections.

0.5% rates this dec

next year up another 0.5% to 1%

rates will still be low and reits are still fine

only when rates go up to say 3-5% then i will be worried for reits

now still low rates of 0.5% to 2% in 2018, reits still as good as before

yet market are pricing the reits lower and lower lol

SINGAPORE (Dec 13): Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower (MOM) on Tuesday announced that some 13,730 workers were laid off in the first nine months of 2016, up 34% compared to 10,220 lay-offs in the same period last year.

This is the highest number of redundancies since the global financial crisis in 2009, when 21,210 workers were laid off.

While the number of workers laid off slowed to 4,220 in 3Q16 from 4,800 in 2Q, it was a 22% increase compared to the same quarter last year.

Total employment contracted by 2,700 in 3Q16, following slower growth in the past two quarters.

“The decline was primarily due to contractions in Manufacturing and Construction, affecting mainly Work Permit Holders,” MOM said in its report.

While total employment grew by 14,500 over the first nine months of 2016, it was the lowest such growth since 2009.

The number of unemployed persons continued to outnumber job openings, with only 91 vacancies per 100 unemployed persons as at Sept 2016.

This is the lowest number of job vacancies per 100 unemployed persons since the end of the first quarter in 2010.

“The contraction in total employment, heightened redundancy levels and decline in job vacancies to unemployed ratio reflect the current subdued global economic conditions and ongoing economic restructuring,” MOM said.

Singapore, Malaysia sign final accord for high-speed rail link

KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 13): Singapore and Malaysia signed a final agreement to build a high-speed rail that will link the city-state to Kuala Lumpur by December 2026.

The accord was signed on Tuesday in the presence of Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and his counterpart Najib Razak in Putrajaya, Malaysia’s administrative capital, paving the way for the development and execution of the 300km line connecting the two cities.

The long-envisioned plan, six years behind an earlier target, is aimed at trimming the land journey between the two Southeast Asian cities to 90 minutes, from about five hours now, with trains plying at a top speed of more than 300 kilometers an hour, the two governments have said.

The link, when commissioned, is set to challenge budget carriers such as AirAsia and Singapore Airlines' Tiger Airways, which fly passengers from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur in about an hour. The two countries will jointly award the tender for a development partner in early 2017, according to a statement from Singapore and Malaysian transport authorities.

The two countries had in 2013 set the deadline for completion of the rail link for the end of this decade, with Najib calling it a “huge game changer” that will transform the way the neighbours do business.

generally if the interest/yield curve remains same the market should continue to go higher and US will break 20,000

if the curve looks steep, meaning more hikes ahead then market may turn red
