Nolah, me stuck in rat race because I am targeting to be a 2millionaire before 50
you think like that, which is also why you are stuck in the rat race...

a normal degree graduate can get like 3k a month, which is not much different from what I made from poker on a yearly basis

I made 300k from online poker, which took me EIGHT YEARS
I see it as no different from a full time job that only made 3k a month....

often when we come to topics like this, we have repeated this discussion many times

you are the type that keeps whining that you salary is lower, expenses etc blah blah blah

people like you who are full of excuses will always be trap in the rat race

I am sorry to say that I have nothing more to offer to you to help you, when you are already so firm in your believes

I have added you to my ignore list

good luck to your career and investing journey

good luck man, my last reply to you ^_^

Let's say in 5 years I want to save 100k every month I have to save 1.6k

Now earning only 2.5k per month, bonus add in another 10k per year?

Take home is 2k, give parent 500 left 1.5
Save 500 out of 1.5k

500x12 is only 6k per year plus 10k assuming I can save all bonus = 16k
5 years save 80k.

Provided that I can discipline to save haha
Who knows if within 5 years I get sack. Then get a low paying job?

More realistic is saving 10k every year lol

even saving 10k per year is a lot

considering the majority of new generation workers are in debt or have zero savings

but its always good to aim higher, so that if u miss the target and come out a bit lesser... you're still doing great

Yeah, like for example, if we exclude your $300,000 poker winning, I guess your portfolio won't be so big already and you will still be working ba..

One saving is always a relationship of his salarys or income. If want more saving, he must also have a bigger income.

Winner at poker is more skill than luck. The art of winning for poker is similar to winning in the stock market.

Today, MIT’s business school is blurring the lines between poker and finance. The Sloane School of Management now offers Poker Theory and Analytics as a graduate level course. Its professor Kevin Desmond recently taught 150 students over 11 lectures on matters ranging from basic poker strategy and odds to tournament play, game theory and decision-making. Guest speakers included poker experts like Bill Chen, Aaron Brown, and World Series of Poker bracelet winner Matt Hawrilenko.

The course has been billed as a way to build skills for future management and leadership positions in finance, trade and global markets, all careers with high-pressure decision-making. Students were expected to spend roughly 20 hours per week studying the game, and each played roughly 5,000 hands of poker — which would be roughly one year of in-game experience.

“In theory, poker should be a qualifying skill set because successful poker players have survived a ferociously competitive ecosystem that requires intense study, analytical skill, risk control and clear thinking under pressure,” says Adams.

Adams isn’t the only person to find common links between poker and investing.

“You make lots of bets with incomplete information,” says Strasser. “There is a big difference between trading/poker and a game like chess, where you know where all the pieces are.”

In addition, an inquisitive mind can be a valued asset shared by poker players and successful traders.

“Traders and poker players both ask a lot of questions,” says Adams. “They don’t take the world as it is presented to them. They are constantly tearing things apart and analyzing problems in new ways. They both tend to be a bit eccentric and individualistic. They are both extremely confident in their own decision-making.”

but at the end of the day, online poker really also not a lot of money to be made

I only made 300k in 8 years... which is less than 40k a year

if one really talented, can work in the financial industry... a successful trader/hedge fund manager can make over 100k a year I guess... maybe?

manu life reit I previously posted many red flags on the official many life reit thread and was blasted/attacked

1) US assets.. cannot see/touch.. so more risk
2) IPO at above book value... may be over priced
3) manu life only listed a small portion of their property assets, so likely every year will have rights or placement to absorb more assets from their parent
4) for reits generally better to pick those with at least 10 years track record like those from capitland/fraser/maple family... those with only 2-3 years track record you will not know of management is good or not... example of bad/lousy management is saizen/sabana/soilbuild/aims reit... go to yahoo and see their max chart you will know how bad they are

on sgx I think there are many reits for us to pick from.. maybe 20-30 different reits... I think it would be most wise to pick only from the top 10 highest quality ones to be safe, especially with the threat of rising rates as well as the slow down in the economy... you even want to be more selective on your picks to only the best of the best

A successful one can make $300k per annum. He earned $10million for the bank. That man is my brother.
