went to hdb hub today.. display model for bidadari hillside is out! the ground level is not flat though, a number of slopes that seem inconvenient to navigate.. for example, to reach the new bus stop need to walk one round from the block directly behind it

Dont know why the bedroom floors is vinyl strips instead of tiles. Wonder if we can ask to change to tiles?
Vinyl strips do not need cement screed to paste the tiles on, at the same time the wood-like outlook seems more premium.

Yes you're right. And there's a whole lot of misinformation on vinyl and laminated flooring disguised as facts. Furthermore, vinyl is a new product. Imagine years later then scientist find out that Vinyl flooring is harmful, or there is correlation between vinyl floor user and cancer, by then we and our loved ones might already be suffering the consequences. I'm sticking to a homo tiles and hardwood combi.

I am going to stick to tiles, but are we allow to pick tiles over vinyl strips (of course we have to pay more)?

No you're not allowed to request changes. It's a yes to all or opt-out. If you opt out you'll need to hire a contractor to do cement screeding before you pick the tile from a vendor like Hafary and then get the contractor to lay it. It takes some time, but I'm sure any homeowner would appreciate the choices in picking out their own tiles for their new dream home.

Heard many stories about newly built bto are usually much poorer quality now compared to the past, will probably be opting out of those and source for contractor too.

Anyone worried about the quality of homes nowadays like me? Like poorer lift, thinner walls or even water leakage problems? :s22:

every projects will have the same problem. this is why there is a DLP - defect liability period in every constructed projects in Singapore, including HDB and to be undertaken by the contractor within a year. I dont think there is a big difference between the past and current HDB; the only problem lies with the people making a fuss out of it, especially when social media has make it easier to lodge a case like this.

I think the same way as well. I don't think houses today are of poorer quality. I feel it is more that we have a more educated populace with easier access to info that many things have become more of an issue than before. I feel the fact that every unit now no longer have windows opening onto corridors is already a big plus, the only bad thing is they are smaller than before :s13:

From application date, you can do the declaration in any HDB branch. You need this declaration for HLE application.
