i'm using a samsung ultra hd tv and my stb is the cisco one. despite setting the stb to 1080p, my tv info says the resolution is 1920 x1080 50i . what does 50i mean? for example when i use my ps4 or chromecast, it says 1920 x 1080 60p. I called singtel but those guys have no idea.

Anybody please help? i wana know if my stb is defective. Thanks

no your stb is not defective. 50i and 60p are just frame rates. i stands for interlaced while p stands for progressive.

thanks for your reply. when i set my stb to 1080i (instead of 1080p), the tv still indicates the resolution to be 1920x1080 50i. Should it not be different?

Current hd channel in. Singtel stb is only 1080i resolution. 50i
mean the tv is showing at 1080i in 50 frame rate. Don't see anything wrong.

but my singtel stb (cisco one) gives me an option for 1080p as well
