I tried doing that but then my mio tv say no connection. Should i be configuring the ONR? Is it perhaps behaving like an ONT?

Yes, if you are using ONR then you can connect SingTel TV box to any of the 4 ports of the ONR.

Are you sure you are having an ONR? Singtel ONR is from Huawei.

If you have a ZTE box, it is configured as an ONT, despite some of them prints ONR on the top. For example my ZTE ONT says "SingTel Optical Network Router" on the front.

Thanks xiaofan for your suggestion, he is right!

kenzie, in terms of pricing and value for Premier League coverage, the best offer right now is Singtel CAST Sports Plus pack.

You get full access to all 10 Premier League game per match week live either on the CAST mobile app or compatible smart TV sets in HD. With one subscription, 2 users can catch 2 different games simultaneously.

You can subscribe monthly at $49.90 with no contract - so no worries about commitment. And you don't need to be a current Singtel customer because we have enabled anyone with a valid credit or debit card to sign up.

Let us know if you have any further queries.

Not into Sports myself but it is said that SingTel Cast Sports Plus pack is the cheapest.

S$49.90 per month no contract.

SingTel cast can be installed on Mi Box S or Nvidia Shield TV. Or you can cast from phone to TV using Chromecast dongle or Mi Box S or Nvidia Shield TV. It is also available for Apple TV and Samsung Smart TV as well as Sony Android TV.

Hi if I only want to watch EPL matches, what is the lowest package I have to sign? How much will it cost monthly?

Oh, if ONR cannot use own router ah?. But can use AC Plus right?

You can use your router as Access Point (AP) with ONR. AC Plus works in AP mode when used together with ONR.

With ONT, AC Plus or 3rd party router (need to have vlan support) works in router mode.

Most 3rd party vlan enabled router (eg, those from Asus) will in general have better performance and/or more functions than AC Plus. But they lose quite some advance functions when running as AP. That is why people like ONT more than ONR.

just to ask...i have an existing ISP that i am using for internet

if got offer by singtel fibre for free...is it possible to connect to the existing 3rd party router as a dual WAN setup ? Does it matter if singtel is providing ONT or ONR for this case ?

If ONT, no issues for you, but if ONR, not sure if Singtel allows you to run bridge mode on it.

currently i'm an existing Singtel Fiber broadband and mio tv subscriber.... i'm planning to cancel my Singtel Fiber broadband and shift over to myrepublic...

My questions is: Can MioTv work with other Internet providers like Myrepublic? or it can only work with Singtel Fiber?

Thanks in advance!

it can work separately without bundling with singtel fibre broadband plan, 2 fibre ports of the FTP will be utilised for different ISP.

the only biatch is starhub cable tv.........die die cannot standalone

I believe we need to be fair to Starhub because of the history.

Here are my thoughts, may not be totally correct as I am not an insider and I am not an expert in this area.

SingTel Mio TV started in the ADSL days and used VLan to combine Internet and IPTV and voice in the same media. They continue this setup when going to Fibre. Good thing is that you do not need to use different ONT ports. Bad thing is that you need a VLan enabled router to go with the ONT. To make things easier for SingTel, they start to offer ONR to new users so that users can use any router but as AP only. This causes a lot of complaints to more technical savvy customers who want to use their high end routers.

You could subscribe to Mio TV last time even if you were using Starhub Cable Online since they could just offer you an ADSL modem for your Mio TV. Now you can subscribe to SingTel TV even though your are using other ISP for internet. No extra charges. So SingTel is good in this aspect.

Starhub Cable TV and Cable Online use Cable Infrastructure. When migrating to Fibre, they probably made a decision which inconvenient the Fibre TV users but make the life of Fibre Internet users easier -- no need Vlan for them, so you can us your own router with Starhub Fibre Internet. Downside is that you need to use a different ONT port for the Fibre TV. Vlan support is needed if you want to use Internet along with the Fibre TV.

On the other hand, Starhub is charging customers Fibre Link Access fee if customer only subscribes to Fibre TV, that is probably not a good decision. Previously you just pay for the Cable TV if you are using other ISPs for Internet.

in all aspect, the only saving grace for starhub pay tv are it's TVB exclusive rights to retain or entice avid hongkong drama fans. now that HBO is also on singtel platform. starhub will only lose more customers by keeping tight on their pay tv + fibre BB bundling

Looks like Starhub are doing a few things to revert the trend, not so sure if that is enough or not.

1) Starhub Go Packs vs SingTel Cast and SingTel TV On the Go

2) Starhub Go Streaming box -- SingTel got no counterpart but you can buy Mi Box S and install SingTel TV On the Go and SingTel Cast

3) New Entertainment pack where you can switch to different packs, for example between English and Chinese pack. SingTel does not have this flexibility yet.

I think they should get rid of the Fibre Link Access fee.

On the other hand, both will lose to other streaming providers like Netflix, HBO Go, Amazon Prime Video, Viu, Toggle, etc. The strategy from SingTel and Starhub is bundle them and offer cheaper price.

Hello Singtel,

Understand that some people receive the mailer from Singtel that offer free fibre if new client subscribe to Singtel TV package of at least 50+/mth.

Would like to check if this promotion is only for those who receive or anyone that is able to present the cable bill from Starhub ?
