looks like starhub's exclusive content agreement with star tv and fox international are over. mio tv will now have all the popular channels like star world, fox movies, nat geo. all will be part of a new "family" package.

Both. It's under the cross-carriage agreement and non-exclusive.

If it is non-exclusive then no need for cross-carriage.

If non-exclusive, the other station can go get their own separate agreement with the rights holder and broadcast or they can don't get their agreement and don't broadcast.

Cross-carriage only apply for exclusive rights where other stations cannot get separate agreements.

So anyone noe when then starhub will start broadcast live bpl and ucl matches?

Next season, unless SingTel despicably let their partner ESPN Star Sports carry the matches, which then will not be affected by the cross-carriage laws cos the agreement between SingTel and ESPN Star Sports was signed before the laws came into effect.

If SingTel win exclusive rights, they can't do like what you are insinuating. The law will not allow. You don't have to worry about them being "depicable".

But if ESPN win exclusive rights then it is lawful that only SingTel broadcast it. Starhub customers can only blame Starhub for not winning the rights.

The example of La Liga:
La Liga to move to SingTel mio TV

Said StarHub's Vice President of Home Solutions & Content Iris Wee: "We have made careful considerations before we decided to forego the La Liga.

If there is no exclusive agreement then it is up to all stations to get their own agreements with the rights owner.

In response to your paragraph, no, the blame will be squarely on the gahmen for being stupid and not making their cross-carriage laws free of this loophole. :s22:

How to blame the govt? When it is starhub that did not want to secure the rights?

Same going forward.

StarHub and SingTel are but extensions of the gahmen's reach, dun be naive please. :s22:

The gahmen promised us of cross-carriage channels, so when telcos go by the loophole, it's their fault really. :s22:

I see, so Starhub decision to forego La Liga for their customers decided they do not want to win the rights is govt's fault.

Sorry for being naive to know this.
