Wah they good. Sell their tv plans without including the STB rental inside or just provide the STB for the contract period. Then charge us more for renting the STB in order to use their services.. or else cannot enjoy the service you paid for. Can't they just give free STB like their dual band routers and ONT?

Its like ordering a plate of fried rice but need to pay to hire the chef to cook and pay more for the gas and electricity used. Total bs!

It's best u reset your router. Many settings are required to be changed, such as method of authentication from pppoe to automatic.

If you changing to fibre entertainment bundle, then the router will be new. Your ADSL router can only support wireless 2.4G and the low power type, can throw already. If you changing to Singtel TV fibre only (no broadband), then they may have a special ONT/TVModem 2-in-1. There will not be need for router because nothing to route. Your ADSL router also can throw already.

Whichever situation, no settings to do.

of cos can.

i'm not sure how they are provisioning now, but likely one ONT, LAN1 for internet and LAN 2 for singtel tv.

but in terms of cost efficiency, its not wise to do so..

why don't u consider the 1Gbps fibre entertainment bundle+?

Home plugs lor. But freezing images are one concern when your home plugs are not performing..

Wifi mesh is still the best in wireless set up..

i'm currently on mioHome bundle with 10Mbps ADSL broadband. comes with landline of course. Going to switch to Singtel fibre soon... so very curious -

1. is it a must to get the fibre entertainment bundle to continue to watch TV via the STB? FYI, I don't subscribe any channels only watch FTA ones (ch5, ch8, CNA, etc.)
2. I read that need to change router to support fibre? cos currently is using ADSL one.
3. will they change the STB as well?

1. ADSL is being phased out, so I think you don't have much of a choice. If you want Singtel TV, you have to get the bundle. If not, you can always switch back to normal FTA channels by plugging back the coaxial cable to your TV and to the coaxial point.

2. You current ADSL router might not be strong enough for Fibre, hence they will give you a new one. You can still use the ASL router as an AP, assuming your current router is not the Aztech DSL1000ERT or the Alcatel or something.

I actually really just want to keep the basic FTA channels... but it seems like if I want the fibre broadband only it's going to be $50/mth flat for 1Gbps which I don't really need that fast.

How do you watch FTA channels before mioTV and SCV? Well, you go back to the same as that time. (Step by step, don't get confused with the going digital yet).

Why pay $30/mth for Singtel TV and another few dollars STB rental every month just to watch FTA when you can get them free as before?

You probably want the Fibre Home bundle (not Fibre Entertainment Bundle) which come with free router, free 10 GB Store and Share, keep your existing Singnet email, keep your existing phone as analog if you give them specific instruction when you upgrade or you convert it to digital.

The 1 Gbps Unlimited you must get your own router and set it up yourself. I think you still keep your home phone (analog or digital your wish) but you lose you Singnet email and no 10 GB Store and Share.

Well you don't necessarily have to the the 1Gbps bundle you know. See what your needs are. Since you feel it's too much you can get the 500mbps bundle if they have an offer for it.

Yes the boxes/antenna plugs on your wall, how you used to connect your TV. Just be wary that Singapore FTA TV is converting fully to digital soon. So in the coming years you need a digital ready TV and antenna.

If you don't want to pay so much, you can always switch to other providers, they're cheaper/

No issue with using your TV as a PC Screen, I have the same setup. Just changing the source if I want to watch TV.

All you need is this, there is only 1 slot at the back of your TV. The other end to the point on your wall.

If you are satisfied with FTA TV then go for the plan which only has internet and land line. If you wish to keep your land line as it is, be sure to tell them, if not they will convert it to a digital line.

Also since you mention you have a DVB-T2 TV, you can just get a digital antenna instead of the coaxial cables.

It works the same as the coaxial cables. Just plug one end to the TV, the other end is the antenna itself which you should place near to a window.

currently, it comes through a splitter from the wall socket. one goes to my dect phone while the other goes to the adsl router.

so far mine on fibre entertainment bundle, i always request and remind them(when recontract) i want to remain analogue for tel line
