Submersible marine cameras are rated as IP68, and they are submerged 24/7. Nothing wrong with being careful, of course, but just saying that the rating is an important and trusted engineering standard. If you declare an item as such and it turns out to not meet the requirement then you are liable.
well they might try 101 ways to wiggle out of liability, they'll say yes it's IP rated on Day 1 from factory, but how they know if u never do funny things to it, or drop it on a carpet or whatever to make the device lose it's rating? Maybe they see a scratch and say Oh u drop it or knock it against something then one of the seals became loose, etc etc..
Just like cars, they'll try to wiggle their way out of warranty issues as much as possible, like car batt die, then they blame that u leave your car cam on too long, or never drive enough to charge the batt sufficiently..
so think these are good things to help u when u drop your phone in the sink or get wet due to rain, but better not tempt fate. haha
