"While we do not release details related to manufacturing, the information provided by Bloomberg is false. We have not changed the production number for PlayStation 5 since the start of mass production".Reason why it is out of stock globally:
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...ut-ps5-forecast-by-4-million-due-to-chip-woes
Sony store confirm launch date one, unless global delay. They seem to imply that though it's not outrightly mentioned. But implied like the advert saying Launch date Nov followed by this select release.
I think it is though. The Sony store is probably just releasing a few at a time every day (eg. 40 every day) from 18 - 22. Whereas for the physical outlets they are given the remainder and it's once sold it's gone
Sony unfortunately manufacturing capacity is so so little
unlike Apple so many sales on 1 day also no out of stock

Apple way of OOS is delivery getting longer and longer![]()
After Bloomberg release that report/article, Sony stock fell 2.41% on Tuesday.Which company would confirm such report?![]()
Whoever is right, the facts speak for itself. There is indeed global shortage, lousy launch process notwithstanding. After Bloomberg release that report/article, Sony stock fell 2.41% on Tuesday.
Media sites tend to report fake news with unconfirmed sources, spreading FUD. That's why Sony release a public statement to set the record straight, exposing Bloomberg fake report.

2 months later .......
Hahaha I can't believe I took it lightly when it launched on Friday LOL!![]()
Well said. Global shortage isn't the issue at all. There's more than enough stocks worldwide. The issue is the high demand + max allocation per region/retailer. Rising number of scalpers is also another factor.federal law.
covid = gaming business is booming. unprecedented demand.
Nvidia's new gpus are also OOS worldwide despite there being the same or more units than past launchs.
Youtuber has mentioned graphics card sales increasing after covid hit, despite it being close to the end of life of the product which is another unprecedented situation. same **** definitely happened to consoles, just look at the nintendo switch going OOS.
Phew, successfully cancelled my HN order.
For those who PO and received the 99 days thingy, and wishes to cancel, remember to call and write to them for faster response. Just sharing.

Since US is their priority & primary market, more initial stocks will be allocated towards them first. Asia is smaller gaming market in comparison, so less stocks allocated.
Initial production of 11 Million PS5 is more than enough for launch period. Compare that to PS4 in 2013. PS4 managed to sell through only 5.3 million units in 3 months (Nov 2013 to Feb 2014). That clearly shows that 11 Million PS5 should be more than enough for launch period.
Ehm...even US Amazon got launch date stock issue..
"Several people shared on Twitter emails received from Amazon warning their PS5 video game console they "may not receive this item on the day it is released due to high demand."
Amazon confirmed the authenticity of the emails to USA TODAY."
