Quite meek compared to a year 2018 PC (2 years old)
CPU: Easily OC >5GHz
GPU: RTX 2080 14.2 teraflops
RAM: 64GB

The PS5 had custom hardware design and chipsets that push the throughput limit of the SSD. Cannot compare with PC components that all connected to limited bandwidth buses that need to cater for $10 cards all the way to $3K cards plus running on general purpose bloated OS.

You should go watch the Road to PS5 to understand more on the custom hardware architecture.

seems like PS5 is going to be incredibly powerful with their custom design interface and CPU GPU chipset :)

few years down the road, there will be a newer version of PS5 ?

PS5 pro ?

No one knows. It depends on how technology moves. When ps4 launched there wasn’t a solution to upscale image to 4K. But then 4K saw an increase adoption rate meaning that is the future. Sony came up with pro to include hardware checker board rendering and also better clock speed in case developers wanna use their own rendering techniques.

In fact there isn’t a lot of groundbreaking technology on ps4 imo. Resulting in one of the cheaper Sony console launch. If Xbox didn’t have that pr nightmare, this generation would have been quite a close fight.

Xbox was more expensive, PS4 had 40% more tflops and it had more/better exclusives, it wouldn't have been a close fight no matter what. Xbox is just a mini pc, its quite useless.

Can't predict PS5 future models, but Xbox One Series X already has another version -- the Series S. Leak confirmed by someone who bought the Series X controller ahead of release and the packaging mentioned it also works on Series S, so it might be released soon or same time. It's a downgraded version, lol. I think it has lower technical specs, not just removing optical drive, probably for Xbox game subscription service.

nowadays need to anticipate a pro version console, patching games....DLCs......hai

all due to consumers supporting all these methods thats y,..ownselves to blame.

i dun think they can go 4K60fps for all games~

next generation features like Ray Tracing is very heavy on GPU. not even 2080ti (1.8k SGD?) can run some games at 4k60 with Ray Tracing.

depends on the type of games really. for action heavy games or racing, yes, you need 60fps.

just that console is a single SKU so it is always easier for developers to optimize against compared to PC.

but this gen should be quite powerful bah~ i dunno :s13:

if ps5 games are still at 1080p.. im expecting 120 fps. am i asking too much ?

speaking of 4k its has been out for 5-6 years, tech still hasn't caught up with it.

now main stream gaming is still 1080p or 2k (For PC side) 4k still need another 5-10 years to become main stream ?
