Wording on PS Blog was ambiguous. Hence the conflicting reports, with no definitive answer for now.

'Swap out console covers when they become available' seems to imply Pro cover plates is different & not out yet, and will be available at a later date.

However in the same blog post, it's confirmed that Pro & Slim has the same width, which likely means it's compatible with both models. Looking at photos, the cover plates does look to be the same size to me.

Release is just around the corner. We'll find out soon enough.

"Players can add an Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive, or swap out console covers when they become available."
I think the "they" here refers to the pros. The disc drive here is universal (as with the plates) with the pro.

The confusion starts when the Cnet exclusive first look says the plates don't fits.

I doesn't make sense to me Sony wanted to streamline production but make a cover plates that looks the same but different slightly. But then, sony don't always make sense. 🤔

The upcoming Chroma Collection console covers. There's no mention of PS5 Pro anywhere, only PS5 Slim. This is despite Pearl & Indigo having the same release date as Pro on 7 Nov. Strange marketing.

Sony could've set the record straight & said it's compatible with both Slim & Pro. But the fact that they didn't address it, just add to the confusion.

I think it'll work, as the cover plates look similar in size in photos/videos. But can't say for certain until review units of Pro are out.

It is such a weird thing.

The Survival Horror genre sends chills down my spine all the time, however, I still want to play it. I'm surprised till this day and I wonder how I actually managed to complete those games such Resident Evil, Silent Hill etc back in those days. Though I still play RE (2, 3, 4 remakes), TLOU series in modern times, I am still pretty scared.

For me, if I already know what to expect (maybe after repeated runs of the same area if I keep dying) such as where enemies are hiding etc it becomes more manageable to push through.

For those who play the horror genre, are you all entirely fearless? I have always wondered.

According to techradar.com, it seem Sony has confirmed it. The cover plate of the slims will fit the Pros.

Techradar has quietly deleted & removed it from their site. Sweep it under the carpet thinking nobody will notice. Probably realised they misinterpreted the wording on PS Blog, wrongly took it as confirmation & jump the gun 🤡

If there's official confirmation of it being compatible (like the disc drive), you'll see it widely reported on every major gaming news outlet. Not just a single, lone website reporting it, which is odd & unheard of (Usually means there's no credible/unverified sources).

Until Sony release info on the size dimension of Pro cover plates or reviewers try using the Slim covers on Pro, just take things with a grain of salt for now.

Very scared but still play it. And I play it at night with lights all off. That's my favourite way to play horror games.

I reckon that I may not succeed at that though I haven't tried it before. Occasionally, I have to exit the game and pause for a while when it gets too tense and frightening. I have also seen some players toggle the brightness up to be able to see more to feel more secured. When it is overwhelming, I may dash through to deliberately make the enemies appear, to know what to expect. With the modern remakes of having better visuals, sounds and atmospheres, the older horror games actually seem less spooky.

Amazon is selling slim disc version at 699$, is this a good deal? I can see that it’s the cheapest deal now.

i am quite a casual gamer and i don’t think i will get the pro version.

Just ordered a WD Black 4TB SN850P m.2 SSD PS5 Edition with Heatsink for my upcoming PS5 Pro from Amazon US for $397.

Fingers crossed as no delivery date yet, meaning you can wait for weeks and then the order suddenly gets cancelled for no reason. Happened a few times before for me when buying other items like Lego.

Anyway, if need to can just swap out the 4TB SSD from my current PS5 when the time comes. 🙂

Regarding the face plates, the way I see it is that Sony went through the trouble for PS5 Pro to have the bottom half and top half exactly same size and shape and only extent the middle part which is exposed with no coverings tells me the base plates have to be the same and usable for Slim and Pro.

As others have mentioned, we'll know for sure in 4 weeks time.

What are your delivery dates for ps5 pro? When I preordered from Courts, the only available date of delivery is 8 Nov instead of 7 Nov.
