Death Stranding is a slow burner & an acquired taste. Definitely not for everyone. Some may find the core gameplay loop repetitive & boring, while others may enjoy the unique experience it offers, which is unlike any other.

It's all subjective. One man's trash is another man's treasure. However baseless claims of paid/rigged positive reviews are asinine & laughable.

Amongst the sea of generic modern games, I'm glad DS exist. It stands out by doing something different & doesn't conform to the norm.

We need more experimental games, just like in PS2 era. Though its increasingly difficult in today's market (understandably), with rising costs in development, devs often have to cater to the mainstream just to meet sales target. There's been many instances of studios shutting down after releasing a flop.

Kojima Productions are among the few probably immune to that. Hence they're able to take more risks instead of playing it safe. Prioritizing passion, creativity & making the game they want to make. Doesn't need to worry whether it's niche gameplay put players off or how many million copies it needs to sell to break even (With 2 upcoming games in the pipeline, OD & Physint, already announced, regardless of how well DS2 does commercially).

It's also worth mentioning Guerrilla's Decima Engine is a beast. HFW, Burning Shores & DS2 is a graphical stunner & among the best looking games this gen, especially on Pro. It boggles the mind when you compare it to something like MindsEye with it's 30fps cap.
I totally agree with you on the experimental part. Something new and never seen before and plus if it's fun, then it's a great bonus. Not make games based on what everyone wants but something that can stir up a whirlwind and push the boundaries of creativity. I think consumers will pay more attention because it is Kojima-san and Team, like what you had said, that immunity that they have.

I'm always paying attention to games which offer unique gameplay experiences. Side tracked a bit - Cairn (Mountain climbing + survival), an indie game, is pretty interesting. I don't think I've seen something like this before.

Studios like Firewalk were shut down because they made a generic live service game (with a massive bloated budget!) that nobody asked for, its not because they were trying something new.

Theres nothing new in DS, people have been doing fetch quests in games for decades, also the stuff that was added to the game later in director's cut came from MGSV.

However, I don't think anyone has ever done "fetch quests" until this level of detail in terms of the systems, physics based-traversal, structure/tools building, survival (rain to corrode your packages, BTs, lifespan of boots, etc), route, equipment planning and the social element incorporated.

Fetch quests aren't new but until so in-depth....I don't think there's any game like this. Of course, fun or not, kinda subjective.

ordered the orange hall effect stick from shopee. few dollars only.
I know, the seller initially offered me this generic hall effect with 20ish in total (inclusive of setting up). Actually fixing the joystick with new module not only soldering, need to to calibrate as well.

TMR is a bit different from normal hall effect. Heard it’s more complex and better, it’s more exp.

What a presentation.

They didn't overdo it and gave you the right amount of information you need in 20 min - not rushed, not over the top, in fact very relaxing - you see the wind, landscape, horse riding....bliss. They just build on whatever is great and add on more features. The combat is calm and composed, the balance of waiting out and executing swift moves, just like GOT with more stuffs you can do now.

I appreciate that they added in special modes on top of the unique Akira Kurosawa mode. Miike Mode where it has a more closed up cam view with more mud and blood splatters. I'm not sure if I'll like the Watanabe mode where lofi beats are added. Just thought it may not go well at first impressions.

As we all know, she's seeking revenge on the Yotei 6. I'm looking forward to how it will end up, especially the surprises (perhaps) she may discover, on top of the vengeance that is brewing inside her.

I like the line in the narration, "Atsu doesn't care if she lives or dies." Very focused on what she sets out to do.

To be honest, at the end of the video, it actually touched my heart. You can feel the passion and thought they put into this game. Now it evokes the memories of GOT especially the story part of it.

Time for the highest difficulty - Lethal Mode?
