Normal HDD will be able to work as I using a 2TB HDD. Maybe SSD loading maybe faster.

I find it strange that older games don't automatically take advantage of the high speed storage drives on the PlayStation consoles. The speed is about same or only slightly faster when upgrading PS4 internal drive to SSD version, and now loading PS4 games in PS5 SSD also load only slightly faster.

On PC, I can load up a 20 year old game and it will load up as fast as whatever high speed drives I'm using but for some reason this doesn't apply for the PlayStation consoles, not sure about the Xbox consoles though as I don't have them.

I think this is due to the way Playstation games are created, that the developers locked the game performance, in this case the game loading speed, to a fixed constant hence it cannot take full advantage of high speed drives.

Just based on this video, the overall loading speed of PS4 games on the PS5 is shorter but this is dependent on which games as well.
