I switched my folks to m1 6gbps on be805 from super old songtel 500mbps. Honestly, it is slower and connection is patchy. There are times where it drops so much, i am better with mobile data.

For this reason, my new place, 4 rm hdb, i am thinking between MR 3gbps, or SingTel new home which both works out to be close to 30 per mth. MR router is be230 which seems kinda basic with 50 bucks top up. And singtel is their be11000.

Wondering if i could be missing out any deals. And tbh, a lil conflicted. SingTel router seems better but pretty much tied to their customised hardware and network. Chime in pls. 🙏

M1 6Gbps should be a pretty good plan.

Have you updated the FW of Archer BE05? Certain FW version has problems.

https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/...-deco-wifi-6e-7-mesh-solution.6953682/page-31

Archer BE805 is way way way better than the lousy Singtel HB611-SGST. It is also way better than Archer BE230.

So i am just thinking if it makes sense to get 3gbps and a separate be805 router. Is the router an overkill for that plan? Ha

That also means it is more expensive than existing 6gbps from m1, with this MR 3gbps + separate be805.

Mainly coz my current experience on M1 is patchy.

No need, you can just use the Archer BE230 to see if it is good enough.

Better off going with MR and getting a separate router/getting 1 from MR if it's available than going with ST.
ONR on ST is just trashy, not sure how you deem it as better. :s22:

If you're not going to have any specific use case/requirements, BE230 should be sufficient. Honestly, normal users wouldn't be affected even with such basic hardware.
Just get a router cooler below it to maintain it's temperature to ensure stable operations with our weather, which is better than spending extra for nothing if you are not going to feel/use the difference with better hardware at all.

Update on 1-Nov-2025

Singtel has changed the terms and conditions of the Fibre Internet plans to mention the following.

Bridge Mode is temporarily not supported on this plan and there can be no reversion to previous plans that offered “Bridge Mode”.

FYI, checked with the promoter here at tech show who confirmed that bridging is no longer possible for singtel broadband.

Those who do not like the unbridged ONR can still try to bridge manually. Proceed with your own risk.

Read the first page and then see if you can come to a conclusion by yourself.

I may be biased but I think SIMBA 10Gbps plan is not worth it.

And you do not need 10 Gbps plan (up to 8.2 Gbps only) -- 3Gbps plan or 5Gbps/6Gbps plan can be better.

yes i chatgpt both router, and seems like the singtel 1 is better.

i dont need 10gbps, as i have been using m1 29.90 plan from 300mbps to current 500mbps.

im ok with 1/3/5/6 gbps. can you recommend me a cheap plan free good router, plssss? or even a plan and buy a router from carousell.

the more i read first page, the more i am confused.

seems like some isp are not allowing bridging for own router?

then what is this XGS-PON?

can please recommend a value worth isp? i can sign up with CIS if possible.

if need be, ill go get a router myself.

Offer of StarHub 10Gbps plan at S$33.59 per month with free HB710. It is either available as a CIS offer or targeted new user offer.

CIS offer

https://www.starhub.com/personal/broadband/cis.html

Targeted offer, maybe applicable for recontract offer as well. But some existing StarHub users got better 10Gbps recontract offer at S$30.49 per month with free HB710.

btw saw this 10gbps $33.59 plan on instagram, understand from previous posts same offering for cis but neither the ad nor the website states cis.

I will recommend M1 3Gbps plan then since you are already using M1. Just use the free TP-Link Archer BE230.

You can check out the latest conversation about M1 Fibre Internet plans in the M1 thread.

Read the M1 FAQs as well about XGS-PON and other things.

For most users, no big differences between 3Gbps plan and 10Gbps plans. 3Gbps plan is not a "BASIC" plan or just for "CASUAL HD STREAMING ". :ROFLMAO:

1. Same for M1, which used to call 1Gbps/2.5Gbps plans basic plans.

Now they call 3Gbps plan "Basic". :ROFLMAO:
https://www.m1.com.sg/home-broadband

2. Starhub claims that 3Gbps plan is only for "Casual HD Streaming", which even the old 500 Mbps plan is okay...
https://www.starhub.com/personal/broadband.html

Note: Starhub got much better offer than what is mentioned on the public website, please go to the sticky thread to checkout,

Starhub 3Gbps plan at S$29.55 per month for all users with free HB410;
Starhub 10Gbps plan at S$33.59 per month with CIS offer and targeted offer and with free HB710;
Starhub 10Gbps recontract offer can be as low as S$30.49 per month with free HB710.

look like we going have one more choice on ISP

Nice. Eight Fibre Internet should be using StarHub network and give a good fight to WC and SIMBA.

StarHub will then get three Fibre Broadband offerings (StarHub, MyRepublic, Eight), like like their mobile services (StarHub, Giga, Eight).

It would be interesting to see if Singtel create a Gomo/Heya like thingy for Fibre Internet in case Eight gains momentum in Fibre Internet as well.

There are some people who are getting rid of Fibre Internet plans by just using mobile phones. There are also some people who are using 4G/5G mobile internet with a 4G/5G SIM Card enabled WiFi Router (either FWA or MBB devices).

Mobile Broadband (MBB) -- like those portable 4G/5G WiFi router which oftern have a battery inside.
Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) -- like those 4G/5G WiFi router which are usually attached to a power supply.

But this is still a niche in Singapore and more suitable as a backup.
