Its true that its disappointing as there isnt any obvious substantial differences between s4 and s5.
In the point of commercial view, one reason u could think of is that samsung wants a wider line drawn between galaxy note series and galaxy S series. If both get 3gb ram and 3200mah, the diff between these 2 series is only the S-pen.
To me, a better processor, fingerprint sensor and better camera aren't attractive to me. Thats why note 3 is still my best pal despite poorer specs comparing to s5 in consideration of above factors..
Exactly.
I think Samsung dug itself into a pit when they released all their Pro line tablets recently, and the Note 3 late last year. If the S5 is a real envelope pusher, it'd take the media focus out of those devices, and eclipse the Note 3, even though the Note 3 is designed to be a different kind of device.
Going by what happened to the Galaxy S4, it seems like Samsung's product launches no longer have any real meaning since they can and will update the product mid-way throughout its life cycle, e.g. the S4 LTE-A version with the SD 800 processor, then the S4 LTE-A with the Note 3-style back. Ultimately, Samsung holds itself hostage to its rigid product launch schedule, but Qualcomm controls the technological revolution behind non-iPhone phones. I wouldn't be surprised if Samsung updates the S5 in June when the Snapdragon 805 is released. It could also be a way to win back some trust in the Exynos brand since their Exynos 5 processors were lacklustre compared to the Snapdragon 800, provided the Exynos 6 powering the octa-core version S5 actually finally has things like LTE radio and QuickCharge and other goodies. In theory, the Exynos 5 could have been more powerful and yet power efficient than the Snapdragon 800, but it was really quite far from being so.
All I know is, expect a more powerful variant of the S5 later on. It also seems like Samsung is expecting the public to take the Note series as its flagship instead of the Galaxy S series. At least the S4 was able to clearly outmatch the Note 2's specs. Now, there's very little reason for anyone to ditch a Note 3 for the S5, assuming they had no need of the S Pen. On a more subjective note, I think the Note 3's back looks a hell lot nicer than the S5's. Seriously......
