EDIT: Clarifying that the info below refers to UberExec (the original Uber) drivers
Lai let's discuss.

Not uber driver, but chat with an UberExec driver before. Here are my notes:

(Disclaimer: things might have changed, or he might have been lying)
40 $ / hour
flat hourly rate, fast or slow to destination no impact on income
uber books 8-16 hours of your time
(he says you can actually dont accept customers and still get paid, but he doesnt do that. i assume they red flag drivers who dont accept customers regularly.)
petrol charges on driver
now ERP charges are passed to riders, no longer on the driver

To put the 40 $/hr into perspective, the Uber ride I took from Tampines to Bedok to Raffles Place took less than an hour, and the fare was $70+. And that's without surge pricing, where the fare can double or even triple (http://time.com/3633469/uber-surge-pricing/).

You cannot easily become an Uber driver just by having a car. You need to be employed by a limo service company first before they will assign you as an Uber driver.

If you own a car,

- U must register a transportation service company
- U must transfer the car from ur name to the new company
- Purchase a commercial Insurance for ur car

Ppl taught me to calculate the cost if you are driving full time. Car depreciation rate is crucial. Self maintenance.

If you rent car,

- average $40-50 per day? (not really sure)

Pro
- Free and easy (drive when u want to)
- Good for ppl with a regular job, drive part-time.

Con
- Not advise for full-time since you are not allow to pick up passenger off from the road means less income, unless u drive long hours, which is around the same as cab driver's hours. (Uber charge you 20% for every fare.)

Not sure dio bo. correct me if i'm wrong.
