:unsure:to be fair, personally I feel between the 15.28 Singtel sim only plan and other mvnos 5G plan are catered to 2 different type of customers.

for some, maybe they dun need so much roaming and prefers their main number to be on main MNo, probably they would chose the 15.28 plan.

for some, they would need roaming benefit, so they would go for mvnos

and theres probably a selected few that wants Singtel network and want to be on main MNO, and they have secondary line like eight/max/Simba for their roaming needs.

personally I chose to be on the 15.28 plan is cause I ever seen my family member vivifi line experience downtime, while my 15.28 line remains unaffected.

and also I dun really need much roaming benefits though...
I agree with u, everyone has their own preferences. I just dun like the narrow-mindedness that mvnos r no good and should not exists.

other reason of choosing main over mvno will be
1. Cant get apple watch sim
2. No roaming voice. If u need be contactable via voice call while overseas
3. I did a comparison for speedcheck with 2 phone side by side.. download always slower than main.

Frankly those overseas data roaming card are quite cheap nowadays to be added secondary esim

of course only is main $$ is as close as MVNO.. Singtel publicly listed sim only is ridiculous

Latest Singtel SIM Only Recontract offers:
Not for new customers including port-ins.

You only need to fill in the form, no need to call in 1688 or WhatsApp Singtel.

For Singtel SIM Only Plan users with 12 months contract, usually you can recontract with the S$15.28 per month plan link at the 10th month or 11th month.

Just go with the first one.

The others are just backups in case they reject your order.

And SingTel sometimes changes the offer contents, so I just keep the links and check from time to time.

MVNOs make no-brainer sense for everyone since we all have been through MNOs' dictatorship profiteering era. Tying us down with 2 years, expensive, meagrely bundled slavery contracts in the past. Now everyone seek revolution and wants flexibility (no contract) and best value out of their money - Cheapest, fastest, bestest.

Loyalists are just sheeps who question the need of change when they find status quo comfortable for them and don't like disruptions. Not knowing how much they have been overcharged to begin with. They are typically your HNWs or simply uninformed elderly generation who doesn't know pasture is really greener outside their walled garden.

Yet for many of us who went back from MVNO to MNO, mainly reason is due to having first hand experience of using them and seeing through how MVNOs actually cut corners and aspects rarely discussed/not listed onplan bundle, e.g. Speed throttling (giving u 5G doesn't promise u full 5G speed) , network segregation and deprioritisation (peak crowd control). Sometimes we really need better quality that we are willing to fork out a few more bucks on.

Then still, we are the active, savvy group that don't surrender to their usual expensive plans. We are the actual negotiators. We want better than MVNO grade network at whatever they are paying and we return you the market share you sorely want back. And we will keep sharing intel, info and put their network under constant scrutiny so they are forced to improve their line quality and keep plans cheaper.

Roaming bundling itself is just something that SG telcos are following overseas telcos to maintain their competitiveness. Not something they are willing to bundle to disrupt our market. Just take it as a bonus.

For me, having this 2nd line is actually mainly to keep my old number passed down from my mum, and to have network redundancy in the event of major telco-specific network breakdown on my main line (i.e. Singtel). So this 2nd line must be on other MNOs' network. And it also serves as my extra line for roaming now since they now come bundled free. For $6/mth to maintain this number, it is not like I cannot financially recover from having such extra expense so I prefer to own such a small luxury.

I chose to be on 15.28 plan for peace of mind, and for roaming use i will just get eSIM solutions from Shopee sellers which are very competitively priced too.

And the reasons given r not valid in the world of mvnos. Maxx and zym and z1 have fantastic apps too.

if u find this plan good for u, no one is going to dispute that. But to put down mvnos, its so sad to be in denial imo.
I would argue that Gomo is among the worst example one can use for MVNO.
To the point that I wonder if Singtel makes it a point to make it so bad to convince users to avoid MVNO.

speed is slower but fast enough. eg. m1-maxx 5G SA can hit >1gbps. no one needs such speed on a phone. also the latency is <20ms, which helps to load websites faster.

most overseas roaming sim also do not provide voice calls. nowadays most people use whatsapp, facetime etc for calls. if only institutions like banks also use whatsapp for calls, it will help to reduce the need for cellular voice.

there are pros and cons. both have their supporters. if mno cannot survive, then there will be no mvno already.

There is no going back on "free" roaming services provided by mvnos. if they do that, a lot of users will jump to using simba. simba is the first mno that started all these. kudos to simba.

if mvno is down, u can bet 99% that the mno providing the service is also down. they r very closely integrated nowadays. So to me, mno or mvno, whoever provides good CP value, I will use them. I have no brand loyalty. haha.

I am not into steep plans .. thus prefer mvnos
the fact is besides mvnos r cheap, their service quality aint that bad too. Singtel mvnos have decent 4G and 5G NSA speed. I guess when come to peak hr mrt commute, mno or mvno, all will be slow.

Yes, I agree, just some core people like priorities network, thus paying more .. well, they may have deeper pockets

I agreed with u. Alot of sinkies just take things for granted .they are only interested in their own benefits while waiting others to do the job. If not for those Mvnos , singtel will not give a damn abt consumers .they will just push out a chop carrot price plan and ask u take it or leave it .lol
For airlines, is taking any class other than economy or budget, chop carrot?

same here lol.
if need to go nearby Malaysia, have the 6GB now 50GB data roaming (knn...mine is the earlier 6GB one lol). 6GB is far more than enough la tbh lol. if heading further away, i.e., China, Taiwan, Thailand, etc. just get a eSIM from Shopee ok le lol. (cheap & good.)
