Another question.

If I am on 1 bar on SingTel while I am on full backs on StarHub/M1 at my house. Should I switch?
Mostly WFH these days.

Edit: The question here has nothing to do with WiFi or whatsoever. It is about the battery drain causing heat due to poor cell signal.

Go with whatever works best for you. No one really knows your home’s network signal for Telco better than you do ..

test and error ba.... now most plan are contract-less and hassle free port out.....

u can get eight (starhub)....
then if cmi, can always change to Hi plan or zym or gomo. (singtel)

btw, at home signal not important, u can use wifi..... then the data signal actually doesn't affect ur calling.
i find the most important is underground coverage..... if no signal, cannot make digital payment.... :censored:

True. with no contract plan now, I always jump ship which I feel the better choice. Hope our home BB will be able to do tat in the future without the need of 24mths contract too.

i doubt so. the equipment+ installation costs..... i got feeling BB will get more expensive.

U can consider using mobile plan ($10~$15) as home BB ($26~$30).
-5g router $200+

if don't download, average user consume 200gb~300gb data monthly.

Sorry doesn't the Zym $15 plan also has 5G, why need to pay $15.28 for Singtel plan?

MVNO vs MNO, technical support differences.

1) Zym -- much better roaming benefits, no contract

2) Singtel S$15.28 plan -- better support (hotline, WhatsApp, physical shops), may have slightly better priority for local usages based on my own testing (Singtel S$15.28 plan versus Zym 4G plan with free 5G trial, both with 5G SA). Not good roaming benefits, 12 months contract.

Since I do not really care about roaming benefits (using eight or travel eSIM for very occasional roaming needs), I do not see any benefits of the S$15 Singtel MVNO 5G plans compare to the Singtel S$15.28 SIM Only plan.

But if you care about roaming benefits, or you do not like 12 months contracts, you may want to consider Singtel MVNOs, or Singtel hi! or Singtel Gomo.

Just want to check if the rest also faced similar thing.
If your data roaming is disabled on Singtel app, some countries you cannot connect to their network to even get sms. Only show "emergency calls only"

CSO claims due to 3G network shutdown hence need enable data roaming in Singtel app to connect.

After enable, can successfully connect to roaming telco

Yes, this is a known thing for SingTel and SingTel MVNOs.

Which shouldn't be the case.

Something's wrong somewhere and I wonder if IMDA is aware and approves of it.

I believe it is the same for other Telcos. You can check with M1 as well.

Many users facing this issue is to avoid roaming voice charges (so they want to disable roaming totally including data) yet want to access incoming roaming SMS.

So this is less an issue for eight, SIMBA and new StarHub 5G Unlimited+/5G Platinum users. Main impacted users are SingTel MMO, M1 MNO and SingTel MVNOs like Zym/Zero1/VIVIFI/CMLink. Zym now has 10 minutes roam guard to help to reduce the impact of the issue.

SingTel Gomo, SingTel hi postpaid and MY Maxx users are less impacted because they do not support roaming voice at all. So the users have less worries to enable roaming data.

Another group of users who facing this issue is Singtel/M1 Prepaid card users who do not want to buy roaming data plan but yet want to have access to incoming roaming SMS.

IMHO.
I went to ask AI - leave the app alone and disable data roaming on the phone.
I have yet to try that. :ROFLMAO:

This is mitigated with the roamguard on zym and equivalent on vivifi right? In term of roaming calls. Although just 10mins.
